Always remember, the bigger something is the more expensive and time consuming it is to run and maintain. I can't imagine the amount of time it takes to just paint that thing (yes, they have to paint it on a continual basis to keep it corrosion free), let alone the man hours and resources they have to employ just to keep it docked!
With that being said, that thing is pretty bad ***!

1.) It's just a refurbished Soviet-era carrier.
2.) What are they gonna launch off of it? Some crappy J10's or something like that?
It's more symbolic than anything. Not very impressed.

I went and visited the USS Hornet after BAM, and it was epic, My first ever experience with a carrier... I'd love to see what they've done to this thing.
China has some really brilliant engineers so I wouldn't underestimate it.

A high-speed train crash last month left many Chinese people bemoaning what they called officials' reckless hunger for passing technological milestones.
I for one look forward to china trying to bully us, and we end up sending their ships to Davey Jones locker, to share space along side the German, Japaniese, and Russian navy that screwed with us.
Not a good thing because I don't like them having them, not because I am worried about them coming at us with them.
If anything I would be worried that they would throw that piece of crap it at one of the small countries/territories in the area.
Most likely though, it is just for show like everything else in China.

How is it not a good thing? At best that heap of crap can support 80 planes. Our Ford class (being launched in mid next year) will have 90 planes on board including 35 Lightening II ATF's and 40 F/A 18E Superhornets. Just ONE of our carriers can take on 2-3 of the old crap china has...that doesn't even get into the craptastic planes they fly and the substandard missle tech they have.
