The problem with the 5.56 that aim and many of the other online shops have is that they only carry XM855 62gr, which although better for guns with a 1/9 twist like my SU-16CA and newer ARs have, has a steel core which most local firing ranges won't allow due to the fire hazard. That's why I have to buy the sh1ttier XM193 55gr wich is harder than hell to find online. Catch 22.

Yeah, I think IF I actually purchase one it will become a safe queen (well I don't have one large safe, but you know what I mean). It will be an interesting gun to have in a collection and shoot on the rare occasion as a treat. Problem is that I have other more realistic guns on my 'need to buy' list first and by the time I can 'waste' the money on a FiveseveN they will probably be illegal in CA, or just impossible to find.
I've got to pick up a modified 870 Supermag, Glock, and 1911 first. Then there's the Cali FAL that I want to build as well as the Cali Vulcan AR I want to buil. So many guns, so little money

Yep. It comes with two 10 round mags that make it perfectly legal in Cali. You can buy any AR type mag you want in addition as long as it is 10 rounds or less. The one you can see in my rifle is a 10 round mag made to look like a 20 rounder that you can purchase through Bushmaster and is totally legal in Cali. I like the size better for gripping when loading/unlaoding, plus it looks much cooler.
If you can find one, I would reccomend one of the newer CA models. Don't get me wrong, the Bs are very nice, but the CA adds a newer dust cover design to the bolt, a shorter and heavier parkerized 'bull' style barrel, and a threaded muzzle so you can add a linear comp/muzzle brake of your choice. Just steer clear of the A model. Get one!

I personally go .243 .270 or 30-30 for California deer and 30-06 for out of state deer along with .338 for Elk.

Yeah, if I was going to hunt ANYTHING, I'd always use 7.62 NATO.

Unfortunetly ARs are a no-no in Cali.
You can built a Fab-10 or Cali Vulcan, but you have to break the damn thing apart (upper/lower reciever) just to reload. If ARs were made legal, I'd buy one in a heartbeat, but the SU is just about as close as we can come while retaining a detachable mag.

Yes. Mini 14 (.223) and Mini 30s (7.62x39) are both legal. Can't say they are very reliable however.
And to answer your other question... off the top of my head I can count 16.
