why, when I don't have the liquid assets does one have to come on the market, its even got the right ratio for my FXT.

How much stronger, really, are the 5 speed STI gear boxes than our 2004/2005 FXT 5 speeds? I was under the impression you don't REALLY get to a place where you get strength until you get into the 6 speed transmissions.

They aren't any different in case design so the same weaknesses exist. The gear ratios are lower so there is proportionally less shock-loading on shifts but there is still a high risk of shredding the gears with extra power. I don't know what overbear is smoking over there but I've never seen a 5 speed mated to a 600hp lump. It's generally accepted that anything much over 300hp and you're gonna have a bad time.
If in doubt, FLAT OUT

A lot yes, but 600, not so sure. There's a dude I bought some parts off from here and he had a peanut eye running a RA box with 592whp and the trans was the first thing to expire (on the track). He doesn't seem like the type to abuse his stuff either. Cryo or not, that's really pushing it on these boxes.

Click my link.
The later year WRX 5MTs and the LGT got thicker gears. Same gears the Japanese got in the R/RA Transmissions. Many have the same gear ratios.
And they work well for most people. 600hp likely makes near that much torque, so yeah, these will not hold up. Hell, even the 6spd will have trouble with 600 ft lbs of torque.
My experience has differed a little, sure the older gears are smaller and weaker for that matter but the largest issue I have seen is case deflection allowing the gear stack to shift/tweak.
Yea we had issues with cyro'd RA gears in Neil's old rally car and that thing made next to nothing in power through the restrictor (Around 320ftlbs and 230whp)
I've replaced the newer gearsets in customer cars with 6 speeds.
I broke 4th gear at 500whp on the first pull with PPG gears in a 5 speed box with a chassis girdle on it
