This morning I placed an order for office supplies from Staples
being the smartass I am, I type on the packing slip notes
"Please draw a picture of a monkey fighting a shark"

5 mins later I get an email from our company controller - who I didn't realize would be approving the bills

I try not to be too harsh in the critique of the Controller of a Fortune 1000 company

A+ in my book im surprised they have the time for that. if you guys are public i would think theyd be swamped with the quarter close right now

Maybe you do not understand how large mega corps run, but he probably has 20+ underlings doing those jobs while he lights his cigars with $100 bills.

You'll eventually realize because someone makes more money or has a high ranking job doesnt make them a hard worker. The reality is the more money most people make the less they actually do. Thats why I have respect for the engineers and people on the technical side, but thats it. The rest are dead weight.

 

100% A for effort. Give that person a raise or a paid day off.

 

haha in my line of work i talk with controllers all the time. I havent came across one that had extra time during a close. From what Ive seen they work crazy hours too so not really dead weight. Unless reporting your financials isnt important.
