If I were you, I would buy a new set of the General Artic's for like $85 a piece and go with peace of mind knowing you wont slide off the road into the river on US50 this winter.

The wear bars may be at 2/32" for water, but snow needs more tread to displace in. Additionally, many snow tires are made from a specialized winter oriented compound that only makes up the 1st half of the usable tread on the tire as that's the only part of it meant to be used in snow and ice.
i had read this on tire rack's website too. it doesn't seem like I can get much out of these tires at this point but atleast i know what i need to do.

The only time you will *NEED* snow tires is when you go when I go and thats during a blizzard and theres 2 feet of snow on the road.

I have all seasons on my forester, and several times I have gotten around town with no issues with over a foot of snow on the ground.

Hell, my fozzy plowed right out of the driveway with a 5 foot snow drift in the way no problem. My neighbor was stuck in his lifted tacoma
damn! and yea i'm basically using the snow as an excuse to buy winter tires and try to have some fun in the snow as well.

i saw these as well on tire rack, its a good price for what it is and the reviews are also pretty good. from what you're saying though i may just end up sticking it out this winter with stocks and then cash out for next winter season if i'm financially up to it.

Its prefered to have matching, less wear and tear but I dont know how much exactly.

Personally, I dont chance it. 4 tires are cheaper and faster to replace than a center diff.
