first of drinking and smoking is hand in hand. so is coca-cola and an american spirit. nothing like 10 minute smoke to calm the nerves.

and smoking doesnt kill everyone. its all what card you draw. there are people that smoke one pack and die from lung & throat cancer. and then there are people like my grandpa that smoked since they were 13 either cig, cigar, or pipe and a glass of wine every evening and live to be 98 and die with not one sign of cancer or anything. just die from being old.

its all what card you draw. cigs are bad but mainly something for people to blame soemthing else on.

how do we know the long term effect of bottled water. maybe there is a chemical in bottled water that we wont know of for another 20 years just like tobacco, that actually builds up in our system and kills us just like tabacco. but becuase it hasnt been a fad for long enouigh we dont know the effects yet just like tobacco. the actors drink bottled water in movies just like tobacoo was smoked in movies.

its all relative. be grown up make your own decisions. people have been told for long enough now tobacco is bad. i dont know anyone that hasnt seen a truth commercial. if they smoke its because they want to. let it go you are fighting and endless battle.

and if everyone on earth quit smoking i would start again just to be contrary. just to give the hippie minds who want to control everything something to ***** about. becuase since their trees came down they need something to fall back on. tobacco is from mother earth why is it a bad thing?

anyway i am not saying i dont agree tobacco is bad. but if people wanna smoke dont walk by coughing and making a scene cuz you just look like a jackass. walk by me when i am smoking and do some fake coughing **** and i can promise you i will put my **** out in your eye, and think about how bad that must hurt while i am taking my dump.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

live life and party...sleep when you die.

I smoked for 10+ years, quit a few times, then totally quit about 4 years ago. We had a kid and wasn't into dumping money on cigs daily/weekly, also to be honest the addiction is one that I felt would never go away...so keep smoking and dumping $1,000's on them and killing myself or stop and hope that the 10+ years doesn't come back to kick me in my as* and kill me right before my son grows up and has kids of his own (something I'd like to be around for).

I can say this...in all the years that I have not smoked; I STILL WANT TO SMOKE....EVERY DAMN DAY. The craving never goes away, sure it is less than it used to be but honestly for me EVERY DAY I WANT TO SMOKE OR THINK ABOUT SMOKING. I also feel most of it has to do with what you do in association with smoking, i.e. sex, you smoke. coffe, you smoke. driving in car, you smoke. bored, you smoke. shy and not social, you smoke. smoke, b/c why not. I believe its more habit than it is addiction (as we control our own actions IMO).

When I was younger I did visit a family member dieing of emphizma, not a fun or enjoyable site to watch someone gasp for air.

To me it is what it is, smoke = most likely die, or don't and get some other BS disease that will kill me anyways...LOL

to each's own, I guess

I used to smoke quite a lot (and I was smoking those Djarum Black clove cigarettes...FTL) but one day I just kind of thought about the cost of a pack and the fact that 1 pack is basically 1 days worth of gas to go to work and back and I said screw it.

Now I'll just smoke every now and then if I'm with a big group of people...or after I was drinking. I never really got that urge that I "needed" it even though I was smoking for 2 years. I just kinda got a pack and would have it for a while and then stop for a while and yeah.

I do smoke t3h hookah though, because it's awesome and I can make it smoke better than most hookah bars here in the Yay Area. Khalil Mammoun hookah FTW!

SO so true. SO many times i catch myself almost buying a pack of cigarettes. Then i think man if i do it i wont be able to stop again. I quit becuase of our son as well.

The biggest thing i though of was this.

it takes like 3-5 mins to smoke a cig. unless you are smoking an american spirit.

3-5 mins times that by about 10 times a day. thats anywhere from half hour to an hour a day.

times that hour, times a week, times a month, times a year.

thats a little over a day a month. that mean by the time my kid turns 18 i have missed out on 7+ months of his life.

I know that is extreme to add it up like that. sure you are at work or your at night when you kid is asleep, whatever. but if you need a reason to quit give your self every reason.

it was so hard quitting i don't dare to smoke a cigarette again. also, for the people that wants to quit...you wouldn't be able to quit unless your mind is set on quitting or else you'll start smoking in weeks if not months.

WAIT WAIT WAIT... Hold everything... Smoking is bad for you???????????

But seriously, I crack up at the people who think they can make someone stop smoking by explaining the bad sides of it. At this point, I think everyone knows it is bad for you. Those that don't should smoke more. If you must, there are many other reasons to play if you are trying to get a friend to quit (stinky, bad breath, weaker sex drive, blah blah blah). If you take the "it's bad for you" stance you will not be taken seriously.

I have smoked off and on for about 11 years now. I say off and on because at times I have gone over a year without a cig, and then (for example when I lived in England) at other times I smoked fairly regularly. Never more than say 4-5 per day when I was at my worst. Now I smoke every once in a while with co-workers, and when I have had a few beers. I don't usually have a pack of my own, rather bum from friends or buy a pack for someone who smokes more than I do. Usually if I take off on a road trip, I will get a pack and smoke prolly 5 or 6 before I throw it away. I instantly put out my smoke if any kids come near or if someone settles down near me - never worth bothering someone else with it when they might have breathing probs or who knows what. Smoking around kids is just wrong.

Last week I smoked 5 cigs, and for me it is totally more a habit than an addiction (at least I think it is). I say this because I remember a couple of times in my life where I lit up a smoke, took a drag, looked at it realizing I didn't really want it but just took it out since I was in the environment where I usually smoke (outside at work, working on a car, etc) and threw it as well as the pack away, and didn't smoke for months. Whenever it has gotten "bad" as in more habitual smoking, I get a pack of tobacco and papers so I have to work for each one.

For me, for some reason, I really enjoy a nice smoke once in a while. Sometimes when out in the forest or something, it's just really nice to sit on a rock, take in all the scenery and have a smoke. I only smoke American Spirits and can tell a huge difference with other brands. I used to smoke 555's because that's what it said on the Subaru rally cars... Haha..

I guess in Kyle's scenario it would depend on the cig factory. If it would be Marlboro or anything like that, let it burn. Somewhere that makes good tobacco (American Spirit, Drum, etc) then I would git me some.

damn even just reading this makes me want to smoke...LOL, its a crazy mind f it does on you.

I do agree with wombatsauce, sometimes you just want to kick it and enjoy a good smoke.

for me it was chilling with great company over a coffee, latte, or my favorite espresso (rocket fuel) and kicking back under the summer sky late at night. weird how that sounds so good, and remove the cig and its not as tasty IMO...

oh well it is what it is

Seriously.. Dude next to him playing 80's all day (not too bad) and then this guy humming along to his chanting... kill me...

Man, I cannot even smoke out there in the desert or whenever it's super hot. I was in London last year - it was all hot and muggy - got a pack of smokes, halfway through the first I threw it away and didn't smoke at all for about 4 months.

I picked up the habit in the Navy. It's almost part of the culture. Even the non-smokers hang out in the smoking areas because their friends smoke. And a lot of the people that don't smoke use dip which is an even nastier habit.
