So my registration is due for Jan 2009 and I got a notice for my renewal that I had to get my car smogged. At first I didn't notice the smog check requirement and already sent my payment.

After I noticed, my check had already been cleared so I called DMV to ask what I should do. The lady said I could just smog my car and then after it was sent electronically that they would sent my registration. Then she checked her computer and said "oh they're already sending out your registration". I asked her "oh do I still have to smog my car then?" She paused for a couple seconds and said yea.

Well today I just got my registration in the mail! What do you guys think? Should I just slap my sticker on and play dumb? Has this ever happened to anybody before?

 

last time I paid without smog because I didn't notice it just like you. but i actually got a second notice to smog it instead of the registration...

I say you smog it. don't want any penalty right?

 

If you get a registration sticker in the mail, then put it on and call it good. If you get a reminder notice, then go get it smogged.

 

Yea I'm short on funds so I dont want to pay to have my stock downpipe be put back on, and then pay for a smog check. But that would suck if they found out somehow and I got some kind of penalty.

I doubt there will be a penalty, you got your sticker, so run with it. If you get a second notice, then they are on to you, so then its time.

 

putting your stock downpipe on takes all of 30 minutes.

you really shouldnt be paying someone to do it for you IMO. At least get together with some suby guys and give em beer. i know id do it for a couple of beers maybe some pizza =)


on the registration note. call it good. its DMV's fault that they sent it out.

you wont get a penalty or anything like that. Like stated before, if they send you a letter of second notice..... then think about smogging it.

 

just put the stickers on, and if they send you another notice saying you need to smog it, then go smog it. Its they're mistake
