Skyline GTR to be under Nissan
Well it's official as of today, Here's the article, i got it in the email.
GT-R's US Nameplate Announced
Since the unveiling of the GT-R PROTO at last October's Tokyo Motor Show, Nissan has continued development of the legendary GT-R sports coupe. And while details about the next generation GT-R have been few, one important piece of information was made public today.
Mr. Carlos Ghosn, President and CEO of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., kicked-off the New York International Auto Show with the exciting revelation that the GT-R will be sold in the U.S. as the Nissan GT-R.
As part of his keynote address at the International Motor Press Association Breakfast, Mr. Ghosn said that when he unveiled the GT-R PROTO, Nissan had not yet decided whether the GT-R would be sold as a Nissan or an Infiniti in the United States.
Mr. Ghosn also expressed enthusiasm that the heart-pounding GT-R will build on drivers' passion for the Nissan brand.
Would this mean the skyline will be cheaper?

I'm kind of getting tired of R&T and MT just making **** up all the time. If you have access to a big library check out back issues of those mags from the 90's, pretty funny stuff.

Nissan is building the next GT-R to be a 911TT fighter in the U.S. market. The GT-R is not an economy-car based performance special like the Evo, but instead, it's a pure-bred sports car. Think of it like a Japanese M3. While it's going to be a bargain for the performance you'll get, it's certainly not going to be under $40,000. I would have to say that it will cost at least $50,000 if not $60-70k.

why would you buy that when you could own a C6 Z06. just my opinion but i dont think they will sell as well as they would like them to if they are around 70k.
50k i can understand but up to 70...ehh i dont think so.
I'm saving my pennies. The Skyline has been a dream car for me for as long as I can remember. Even if I have to wait two years after production to pick up a used one I will.

That said, I'm pretty sure they're not going to cost 50k. They are luxury sports cars like the 911. The new M Roadster with the M3 engine starts around 50k. Why would you want one of those over the new C6 Z06? I dunno, but BMW enthusiasts will buy them without a doubt. This is probably the same reason why Nissan/import aficionados will buy the GT-R, even if they could have better performance numbers for the money with the C6 Z06. Not everything is about sheer performance. Otherwise, no one would buy a 911 or an Aston Martin or a Maserati or a Jaguar or...

It's the way a car makes you feel, not the numbers a data acquisition system will tell you...

The market for Evo's and STI's is a pretty small niche, but the Skyline's market will be even smaller. I believe Nissan is using this car to showcase technology and to be a "flagship" for their line, drawing people (and potential customers of other vehicles) to their dealerships. Even if they're not selling a whole lot of GT-R's, they will still benefit from bringing this car to the U.S. to increase the desireability of their brand.

yeah i can totally see that. just to make their brand and dealerships a more desired stop in the car buying process.
i hear what your saying but, charging upwards of 70k will be a loss to them and getting them on the road. if they cost 70k i am sure they will be as rare as the c6z06 or porsche gt2. maybe not as rare as the gt2 but pretty damn rare.
eitherway the gt-r looks hot. nice car. i wouldnt mind having one.
If it comes with AWD and rear steer I think it would be worth 70K. It would be a sports/super car that you could actually drive when the road's wet or snowy. I've driven a stock BMW 325i convertable with good tires on wet and snowy roads ... scary. But WRXs and STis have no problems.
That's why I love AWD.
And it's a Skyline
