Wow, I was NOT expecting some 60 year old history lesson.

Who else expected a youtube video with some "extreme" sky diving? I was hoping to see someone target shooting a free falling target with a pistol, a rifle, and then later a FLAME THROWER! Now THAT would be EXTREME sky diving!

One has to wonder with modern fabrics, and technology, just how fast you could freefall at from that height, and could you use a "glide suit" to see just how far you could "fly" from the launch point.

I think I read somewhere that a lady is planning an attempt on Kittinger's record. The problem for her is getting funding since it isn't research related. If I can find the article, I'll post it.

found it:

Thats not just "some lady" that is Cheryl Stearns, my god she is one of the top sky aerobatic and jumpers in the world. If anyone can break the record its her.

You should look up her bio, she is nuts. Number one female jumper in the world, has more records than most the top men have (she is ranked in the top 5 jumpers in the world). First female to ever make the army's elite golden knights, that lady has more time in free fall than most people have in airplanes.

That made me chuckle.
