Question Ski rack for WRX sedan... What do I need?

So I wanna do some skiing this year, and I'm thinking about buying a ski rack... What stuff do I need? I'm trying to do this cheaply... As far as I know, the WRX sedan has the rain gutters, but not the "rails" along the roof, like the wagon has.

I found a good deal on some used "Yakima rain gutter towers". Is that what I need?

What else?

i got the Q towers by yakima. They work really well. Try searching craigslist, I've seen them there before. If you want to buy new, I'd recommend rackattack.com... I ordered from them and they offered the best price new in box. I like yakima over thule... but that's only my opinion.

What about the Yakima 1A Raingutter towers? Will those work? Info on the web seems pretty sparce.

..and if they did work, what else would I need?

orsracksdirect is also another good one... I did the yakima automated fit guide... and it doesn't list the 1a towers as a possible fit... only the Q towers. sorry couldn't find any info on the 1a.

i found this on craigslist... might interest you.
All you need are new Q clips, which are about $25.

Correct. The Raingutter towers will not work. You will need Yakima Q Towers (not specific to your car), and Q Clips (which are specific) and crossbars + any attachments you'll need.

Of you can go the Thule route, but I'm not familiar with them.

Thing I hate about racks

The small ones...

Oh, ski racks...excuse me...

Are there any racks that don't clip inside the door jam? These always have a tendancy to leak. It's due to the clip being between the weather stripping. I havent looked at them lately but back when I was working at copelands sports thats all you got if you din't have a built in rail or something...

I'm using Q-towers on a an '03 WRX and it working fine for me. Comes on and off easily. I've never used Thule before, but I don't see the difference.

I used Thule on my old 2.5RS and it's really easy to put on once you get it set up. 10 minutes tops.
