who do you think was tight from the 90's era?
I completely agree. He was one of the founders of hieroglyphics and a pioneer of modern day hip hop. My very first rap/hip hop album was del's "no need for alarm". He's always brought something new to the table rather than recycle everyone else's styles. Also being ice cubes cousin, I give him mad respect for staying true to the underground instead of selling out to gangster rap.

Yea, that's why I got confused with the topic when people posted the more friendlier, less aggressive, "back pack friendly" hip-hop. By all means, I love both. I think there's a time and place for everything.

Thought the thread was about Sickest MCs in Hip-hop. Didn't realize there was a pre-approved list that we had to choose from.

Personally, I like Del. If others think he is a Fa**t back-pack rapper, so be it. Doesn't change my enjoyment of his music. I still think his Future Development record was good and his work on Deltron3030 is great.

People can listen to the Mcs people post up in this thread and make their own decisions. Which is why I like this thread. Gives people a chance to listen to MCs that they might have not heard and see if they like them.

the topic of music is a subjective argument. boo boo heads, boo boo heads. hoodz come in dozens. I wish my brother george was here? mistadobalina? man, that brings back some memories... they (hiero) did have their time in the spotlight... they used to be all over the radio in '93, when '93 till infinity came out. well, S.O.M that is.

music is music, not sure why it has to be "categorized." prob just human nature. whatever tickles the pickle imo.
how many hip hoppers does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
10... one to screw in the ligthbulb, and 9 to argue about how the old one was so much better.

It's just the "trillest" and the "gully" part that confused me. Cuz when I hear the word "trill", you want me to list a bunch of Bun B, UGK, Scarface, Geto Boys or whatever "trap music" videos? "Gully", so, MOP, Sticky Fingaz, Thirstin Howl, Papoose, Wu-Tang, and stuff (baggy jeans, Timberland wearing, street corner stick up kid music)?

Call me crazy, but I was kinda partial to Wordsworth too. His (Wordsworth) actual songs aren't that good though.....

Man, those early Rawkus days from 11-12 years ago were magical. The last thing I heard from Rawkus was Kidz In The Hall.

Correction: Didn't realize that the new Reflection Eternal CD I copped was on Rawkus/Blacksmith. LOL. At least they're still alive!

Rawkus tried to sign El-P about 10-15 yrs ago, he told them he'd "rather be mouth-f*cked by ****'s unconcious." i lol'd at those lyrics kinda.

but yeah, this thread has brought up some crazy memories...

i have so much respect for Tonedeff though, he does everything himself and his work is superb.
