Shop for clutch and significant suspension work?

Looking to get the following done to my FXT-
  • clutch
  • sti steering rack
  • sti LCAs
  • new front wheel bearings
  • subframe riser removal (+new tranny mount and driveshaft)
  • whiteline ALK
  • new trailing arms
  • whiteline lateral links
  • new coilovers
  • brake rotors turned (Wilwoods)
  • wilwood calipers rebuilt (6 piston front, 4 rear)

Maybe even a motor freshen, oil cooler, and some idle tuning work.

What shops in the bay area would you trust to do this on a tracked car? I normally turn all my own wrenches as I've almost balled up a z06 with ****ty shop work (cut a brake line that we incorrectly routed on a wheel on the track and lost brakes).

Thanks,
Jason

I would hit up LIC Motorsports (Novato) or Mert at RBMS Auto Care (Hayward) for all of that stuff. Either place will take real good care of your car.

I highly vouch for Edge Motorworks in Mountain View. They spcialize in track cars and did work on my car (rear subframe pos traction kit) and a lot more and I love it all.

Give us a call if you'd like a quote and/or to check out our shop. We've been doing a lot more high end cars as well as track prep lately.

Thanks

+1 for Eqtuning. They have done a bit of work on my suby. Clutch install, engine building , and other ins and outs. Nice shop and never had any issues. I've also had good success with Custom Alignment in Mountain View. They dialed in my suspension on my camaro race car based on my weight and all the additional upgrades I had added. They specialize in suspension work for track cars.

Since you're from Woodside, why not give AutoHQ a call? They're literally like 5-10 min away on Broadway St.

I think you'd be treated right by any of the mentioned shops in this thread,

LIC Motorsports
RBMS Autocare
EQ Tuning
AutoHQ

I'd suggest giving each of them a call and explaining your needs outside of the list of the parts (as in expectations both in performance after the work and of the overall workmanship and experience) then make your decision.

Regardless I think you'll be happy with any of the above shops!

Looks like I'm going to take it to Edge. They did great work on my E36 M3 a few years ago, and I've been racing for years w/ the owners - stand up guys. Talked to Adam today, he's super legit and super knowledgeable. Here's a bit more about what I'm going to tackle. I have most of the parts ready to go, and am working on getting rest of the parts mentioned below and will then get her done.

Driveline
  • Install ACT SB3 clutch/throwout/pilot (have new disk and new bearings)
  • Change diff and tranny fluid (have Motul Gear 300)
  • Install Group-N motor mounts (have)
  • remove subframe risers (need to get shorter bolts - $11 Subaru Part - 20510AE020 need 2)
  • remove spacer in intercooler shroud (no parts needed)
  • verify that radiator hoses don't kink (no parts needed)
  • swap to WRX shifter, driveshaft, tranny mount, pitch mount (have shifter, need bolded parts)
  • Botox Bolts (already installed)
  • Outrigger bushings (already installed)
  • Shifter bushings (already installed)
Rear Suspension
  • Install Whiteline Adjustable Lateral Links + Toe Lock kit (have)
  • Install New Coilovers
  • Trailing Arm solution TBD (likely box and TiC front bushings - can do this later, does not affect alignment)
  • TiC Rear Trailing Arm Bushings (already installed)
  • P-Rpd 4 point strut tower brace (already installed)
  • Hotchkis Competition Anti-Roll Bar (already installed)
  • Kartboy STi Endlinks - Rear (already installed)
Front Suspension/Steering
  • Swap to STI knuckle and steering rack (have both, used and bushings already)
  • Install Whiteline RCA (have)
  • Swap to STI LCAs (have used LCAs, need spindles)
  • Install TiC FCAR Bushings and Whiteline Front Control Arm Bushings (have)
  • Replace front wheel bearings/hubs (have new OEM)
  • Install New Coilovers
  • Fender braces (already installed)
  • Hotchkis Competition Anti-Roll Bar (already installed)
  • Hotchkis Competition Endlinks (already installed)

Brakes
  • Install New pads (Compound TBD)
  • Possibly new rotors (just the outer of the 2-pieces)
  • STI master and booster (already installed)
  • Grimmspeed brace (already installed)
Alignment/Cornerweight
  • Front height - 14" hub to fender
  • Rear height - 13.5" hub to fender
  • zero toe
  • 2-2.5 negative camber front
  • XXX negative camber rear

Any other suggestions?

JP

+1 for EQ, Custom Alignment and GST. Also Auto Innovations for suspension (they don't do brakes).
