Shipping Car to Maryland...any tips?

The time has come to say goodbye to the City by the Bay. This is prolly one of the craziest and most life altering things I've ever done, but that's where the fiance' is so that's where I'll be.

Any tips for shipping the car East? Thick coat of wax? Shipping blocks in the wheel wells? I've already requested to be put on the lower deck right behind the cabin, but that was just a request so I don't know where I'll be placed until the day arrives.

Any suggestions are appreciated,

Ryan

I would take pictures of the entire car to show it's condition and make sure they don't scratch it or anything and try and claim it was already there.

Pics would def be a good thing. The transporting company said they'd cover everything EXCEPT "acts of god"

They say that, but how much will it take before they admit fault to it.

Yeah, I wonder what they classify as an "act of god". They said hailstorms and weather related stuff. Here's to hoping...

definately take pics inside and out, write your mileage down, make sure all your electrical stuff works, close up pics of your glass and paint, and all existing blemishes/dents/curbrash or anything like that. hopefully nothing from the car above yours falls onto your car....

I shipped my car last week. Just got here today. It's SUPER dirty. It was behind the cabin on the lower deck. I think that so long as it's waxed, you should be ok. Some people on teh truck used that painters tape. Seems to have worked well.

I'm not sure if you can use a cover. I'll have to check on that. The blue painters tape sounds like a good idea. I just imagine it'd be hard to identify already existing dings and paint chips at the time of inspection with all the tape. As long as the tape decreases the chance of chips I'll give it a shot.

best part is that you just wash it off...

I'm still looking for the duracote (duracoat?) stuff but in the meantime I came across this site that sells a similar product: http://www.protint.com/QuickPeel.ivnu

They've got 3 different types of spray-on, peel off applications.
