Congrats. Now begins the worst few months of your life. haaaa. Planning a wedding sucks. But its worth it. Just remember... its one day. It's your day. Make sure you have fun and make it memorable. If somethings not "perfect"... **** it. We had cake cutting issues. Music issues... they played the wrong song when we walked in to the reception. They waved her in too soon so they had to sit there in plane site (in a car). Sucked. My brother almost forgot her ring. Lots of little quirks... hell we had a crazy hay ride where the wheel fell off the cart.... haaa. So lots of little isht. But just like your marriage.... all those little mishaps when taken in stride become bart of one big giant great memory. My wedding was a friggin blast.
So try to remember to remind your bride that if you stress to much even a perfect wedding won't be perfect. Even a perfect marriage won't seem perfect.
And all you have to do is be there.

Any future husband who thinks he is going to have more than a 5% share in the wedding day is delusional.
It is HER day - you just get to share it with her and your friends.
My recommendation for your wedding; look good, act poised during the ceremony then get drunk and dance the night away!

Your as in his and hers. Not the parents. Inlaws. Friends. etc.
And I had a LOT more than 5% to do with my wedding planning and wedding day. A LOT MORE.
so as to be clear and to not be misconstrued again...
The wedding day is about you guys... you and your wife.
why must people pick one thing out to derail an otherwise perfect thread.

Congrats Nick!!!! i think its sweet the way you purposed!
my advice is similar to LIC's:
ENJOY the engagement period!!! i say take a year before you start planning the wedding. get used to the idea that you are going to be bound legally for life! even if you live together and share finances and everything else... the whole forever thing starts to settle in before and after the wedding.
after youve been engaged for awhile then start the planning.... sides of your bride you never dreamt existed will show up and her sanity along with yours will be greatly tested ( take this from me, the newly wed chic..i swore i woudnt be THAT girl....and for the most part i wasnt..but it did happen in certain moments)
remember, the wedding is more for your friends and family.... the planning and after are for you guys! enjoy EVERYTHING as it comes!!!!
