I'll be taking Huck up on his offer for a ride. Anyone else in RG6 that's got space for Adrian to co-drive, please let me know. |

I've been thinking of going on, but have a lot of questions. i have done mostly track days, so I'm a noob at autox. I'm not sure what class I'm in, other than novice/noob. how do i know what group to join? I have a GR sti with summer tires, chassis brace, bushings, and springs. power wise, at basic stage 2. I'm not a scca member. what is the upfront cost of the 1 day? how many times will get a chance to run?

Total upfront cost for a non-member is $50. $35 to run, $15 for the weekend membership. If you like it, the $15 can be applied to the cost of your annual membership. Usually you'll get 4 runs. If there is a lot of entrants, the runs may be reduced to 3. |

What Jourdan said. If you're running for fun and your car falls into SM you'd be FUN SM. I'll be one of the registering people so I can help out at the event. I'll have a black STI hat on. Also, please bring tape so you can put your class and number on the car, which would be "FUN SM ##" (## being the numbers you choose when you register). |

I will be there!
After a chat with G-Ride, I will be going with ASP for my hooptie. My plan is to actually run a full season this year (been 7-8 years since I did a full one last). |
Actually, I thought it bumps you into Prepared?
I think you're right about the h brace. mooshoo, if thebrace is an h brace you're FUN FP. |

Yes, actually you are correct. I went back and looked and it bumps you out of SM into Prepared. Point is, it bumps you up higher then you want to be :) |
Woohoo! So I'm in higher category! It's ok, I'm not after points or times. Just want to see how the car does, that's about it. Hopefully I don't fly off the course bcs of my heavy foot!

I was in SM last year before I put on bigger wheels and lock down bolts. Will I be in the same class? I looked through the rule book and the internet for hours, I'm still not sure. SSP?

Ill be there with my miata in Fun CSP i think it was. :)

You're probably still SM. Also, SSP is a street prepared class, below SM. Classing goes Street (used to be called Stock), Street Touring, Street Prepared, Street Modified, Prepared, Modified. |
FYI, the SJSU Formula SAE team will be at the event. They will work for you if you give them a donation of $20.
Regardless of classing, it is just fun to come out and throw the car around!
It's still best they know what class their car would be if they decide to compete for the season for points. Most importantly, it saves me time if people know their class before they register :) |

That too. I think what I meant to say was that people should not be discouraged if they get classed up because of their mods. Just come out and play. I heard the weather might be a little wet on Sunday. A few notes: Take out your trunk mats/junk/etc. prior to arriving and leave it at home. Trust me... Also, wouldn't hurt to invest in one of those big plastic tubs. Throw all your stuff in it, pull it out during the event, and yeah... keeps all your stuff dry, and a poncho never hurts. |
Crap, I didn't even think about that.
I'll probably just leave everything in the trunk. I drove out with an empty trunk once... Never again. |

You won't feel bad for the cones when you hit them at a high enough speed where they leave a mark that requires some buffing to get out. |

If you're running in the afternoon, you should arrive before 11:30AM, Registration closes at 12:00. Water is a good idea. You don't necessarily need to pack a lunch, there are places near by to grab food and there's usually a taco truck on site. Although, the taco truck hasn't been confirmed yet for this event. I'll be leaving from Berryessa. But I'll be leaving late as I don't need to be there before 11:30. |

This is so tempting, I might try it just to see how my car perform before I start purchasing on my suspension parts.

If you're chassis brace is an h brace you're in FP, which is run group 5. You should show up the same time as Jourdan. You can choose to run in FUN FP and run in whatever run group you want. So you could go in the morning but you should be there by 8 at the latest then. |
Good idea. I wish I got into it before I started upgrading
True story. When I first got into AutoX, I realized that all of my mod choices were terrible. I started with a super slow car in DSP. Then I took almost everything off and had a competitive car in G Stock. Now this year, I'm going back to DSP. But now with proper parts. :D |
Would I still be in SM or has the rules changed?
|
Would I still be in SM or has the rules changed?
The chick magnet is still SM. You could run illegally in STX like you used to, just like a certain someone who ran a certain stock class illegally..... But you know how it goes, no one is going to do anything if you aren't beating them. |

I'll just run SM. The car is no where near competitive. Old, skinny tires, blown shocks, dying motor, etc... Just want to throw the car around. |

Truth. I wish I had started bone stock also. Learn the limits of a stock car before adding on new parts and learning the intricacies of each new addition. |

If you want to run in class, you can be SM with my brother and a few 400+ whp Evos in run group 2 or T2 SM (a street tire only class for all *SP and SM cars) in run group 6 with Huck, Matt, Gagan, and Jourdan. If you don't care about running in class you can be in whatever run group you want. For run groups 1-3 you should be there by 8 to register, walk the course, and get your car ready. For run groups 4-6, you need to be there and registered by noon. |
If newbies would like to shadow me, you are welcome to do so. I haven't been auto-x'ing for a few years now, but... I can kind of generally make my way through things. I'll be running run group 2 with the SM crowd.
I'd be more than happy to help you figure out your numbers, get registered, signed up for work, course walk, etc. Everything to bring you up to speed on auto-x'ing. |

General question...is there regulation on the type of shoes I am required to wear? Am I going to get smacked upside the head with a tire iron if I try to drive/work in my 5-finger Vibrams? I wouldn't be surprised if this quesiton is somewhere in the rule book, but I am lazy :P

You can wear Vibrams. I've seen Gagan do it. I think as long as you're wearing covered shoes you're fine. |

They come out to help raise money for their automotive programs. The $20 goes towards it and then in exchange they work your shift for you. First come first serve for each Run Group, there are only so many to go around. |
If you guys want to have the SJSU Formula SAE kids work you and it rains their price will probably be higher than $20.
