SF Giants

hey guys.
How do we look this year? 3 man rotation in right field, non of the starters look ready (except the AAA fill-ins) nobody is really hitting in spring training....

ESPN has the Giants finishing 4th.

Yeah yeah yeah, I know, the A's look solid, but they play in a weak division.

I was at PacBell Park yesterday for the last spring game. But since I only saw half of each team's starting lineup, it didn't mean much. FWIW the scrubs who for sure aren't making the team played better than the scrubs who will make the team.

I love barry bonds. Have most of my life. One of the greatest players if not the greatest to ever step on the field.

But as for this year...the A's are a much better team to watch. I'll be going to many teams. I support both my bay teams.

But the A's have the best 1-3 in baseball and a 4-5 set up that on any day can being just about as good.

They have chavez who's gonna have a great year because the A's showed him they want him and have faith in him...he's a self esteem player.

Dye is gonna blow up this year.

Their outfield is solid as hell...I mean I'd take burn in center any day of the week and he's not even a starter for them.

The giants.

They have two people. Bonds and schmidt.
Either one of which could have any number of injuries this season.

I mean they have a good infield. A decent outfield and solid bench. But they got no line up. Nobody to help bonds. One guy that can get on base in front of him.

I think they'll do ok pitching and fielding is gonna help them out. But there are just too many hitters in baseball to beat them with one swing.

Bonds can't win 100 games for them this year. Especially with 250 walks.

I think the greedy bastard owners are cashing on bonds and sold out parks while they can. It's only a matter of times before sell outs stop and fans demand a better team. But for now they are counting on the stadium and bonds to sell themselves. Take all the money they can now.

It's bull. I hate this ownership team.

Basically bonds is gonna get burned out...not getting an opportunity to hit is gonna wear him out. He's gonna either retire as soon as he ties up mays. Or he's gonna seek a trade and end up on another team in the AL. DHing for the next 4/5 years.

They need to go after a hitter...and I mean pronto. I can't remember his name but somebody just cut loose a really good hitter because he pissed them off. Let alou get a hold of him and humble him with bonds and go for it.

They need somebody bad.

I mean come on.

JT Snow
Perez
Feliz
Ellison
LInden
Mohr
Torcato

those guys aren't gonna do jack.
They you have an old grissom...who knows about him this year.

A couple of decent hitters in tucker, Pierzynski, and hammonds..who's hurt.
And in Durham...who proved he might not stay healthy either.

I am looking forward to seeing how Ransom does though.

I say good field, good pitching, some key hitting. Miracle if they come in second...with another power hitter they're a shoe in for 2nd..maybe first.
But I say the finish 3rd and miss the play offs. Elfonzo isn't gonna cut it behind bonds..should be in front of him.

thanks for the thesis One Man Army.

Felipe Alou did what he did and the Giants won 100 games. It's almost the same team minus Aurilia and rentals (Eric Young and Sidney Ponson). The Giants didn't really do crap last year (stats-wise from big $$ players) but still manage the wire-to-wire season.

We've tried Alfonso in front and behind Bonds last year (remember?) we ended up with the same ol' Bonds/Santiago combo.

I'm with Ban SUVS. I just wish I had a good feeling heading into the season.

Rhodes is going to be the A's weak link... I hope they can trade him or use him as a left handed set up man. He is NOT a closer.

I hope the Giants do well, but I'll be watching the A's.

hey Ace.
The AL West is the weakest divison. Pale in comparison to the AL East. AL Central beat up on each other and consisitantly have teams go down to the wire. In the AL West, one team (always) seems to stretch out in front of everyone (a la Seattle and A's).
This is how I figure.

Oh, and win the division even without a healthy Jermaine Dye, a healthy David Justice, no Giambi, unproductive Johnny Damon....now no Tejada....

I too hope the A's do well.

i don't know if i would call the west the weakest division. with the Angels acquisition of Colon and Vlad...that makes the Angels a pretty powerful opponent.

johnny damon? david justice?

The central is by far the weakest in the AL. The East is strong too, but I would only rank Boston and New York over Oakland, the Angels and Seattle. Toronto is good, but Seattle is still better, and despite Baltimores new face they still dont have the pitching to match up with any of those teams.

A's fan? I'm referring to deadbeat heavy salary weights warming the bench that didn't do squat. He's another name: Kenny Rogers.

Colon only pitches 30 games a year. He's not going to carry a pitcing staff that needs another ace. But hey, the Angels may be the team that runs away in the division like I was mentioning.

Yeah I'm an A's fan, but I wouldn't disagree if you said that Damon and Justice were unproductive, but they definitely did not warm the bench. Johnny Damon started almost every game with the A's from what I remember.

I wouldn't say that the Angel's need another ace, as long as Washburn stays healthy I think they have what they need.

Back to the topic... I felt sorry for the pitcher last night that Barry dong'd off of. I mean, I think everyone but him saw that comin', INCLUDING his manager. The geezer wanted to give the young guy a shot, but he was obviously hesitant. Myself, I was saying "dinger, dinger, dinger..." as the pitch came.

Anyway, good start for the G men- keep talkin about the A's if you like...

edit: who the hell cares about the AL?

yeah i felt bad for oswalt too, lets see what pettitte and clemens can do against him. there are going to be some great matchups during interleague this year. i've been trying to get tickets to the boston/sf game for a long time but they were sold out before they even went on sale. $65 for standing room only tickets screw that...
