Service/Repair Manual?

What is the best service/repair manual out there for Subaru's? I know that for honda's the Helms Manual rocked. Just wondering what you guys use and recommend.

thanks,

what's the url for subaru tech docs? I can't remember, but you can sign up with that page and then download all the factory manuals in PDF form.

I actually want a hardcopy manual. I don't meant printing out about 400 pages and putting it in a binder either

Thanks for the links though.
I may just see if helms has one.

it'd be probably cheaper to buy a crappy laptop and use those pdfs than to buy the paper version

you don't have to print out the whole thing. what I started doing is print out what I need for whatever I'm working on. then when I;m done just put in a binder.

download the PDF files and put them on a CD, then go to kinkos but it'll cost you a lot and it's just easier to put it all on the hard drive of your computer. i bought a CD copy from ebay a while back and just print out a page at a time as necessary

I bought the manual from Subaru, cost me ~$350 for everything. Worth it to me to actaully have a hard copy in my hands, and not have to wait for my printer to print it out.

well I've got a laserjet 4100 at home. It woldn't take long to print. But I absolutely hate PDF's and searching through them.

The manual for my integra was only ~$40 and had plenty of info. What in the hell costs $350?!

i hate paper... the less paper in my life, the better. i print out the pages i need and toss them when i'm done. and thats only when i can't use my laptop to display the pages i need. with printers being able to print atleast 10 pages per minute, unless youre doing a massive job which requires 40+ pages, i bet you could spare the 30-90 seconds to print it out and save your time vs spending $350.

some simple math:
assuming your take home pay is $20/hr, it would take you 17.5 hours to recoup the cost of buying the manual. thats 1050 minutes. thats 10,500 pages per minute (using a conservative 10ppm average). 10,500 pages is probably more than the total of the entire service manual collection for the 2002 WRX.

also, there isnt much searching at all through the pdf's as they are quite organized with an extensive index. i've had people ask me questions over aim and have answers in under a few minutes (ie the manual tranny drain plug calls for 32.5 ft/lbs of tightening torque).

7-8 volumes.

for my 1990 toyota 4runner, it had 4 volumes and costs lke $200.

for my STi, the folks at www.imprezawrsti.com started a project that someone wrote a script to download all the needed PDFs -- after you paid your $20 for the 72 hour subcription. then wrapped it up in a nice html front end...

then some idiot started selling them on ebay for $20... asswipe...
