what if humans were the most technologically advanced, instead of the aliens.

It is wholly possible that we are the most technological/evolved life in this Universe.

That being said, I would then just feel sorry for the Universe.

lol.

we're not so special in a way that we're no more special than the people that lived 4000 years ago. not until we find a way to travel faster than light

if intelligent aliens existed, we'll have no chance of meeting them without the ability to travel faster than light.

biggest proof that there is intelligent life beyond our planet = they haven't tried to contacted us.

That no where meets the demand to be called 'proof' of anything.

Even if intelligent life has observed us; why would they want to contact us?

Let me ask you this, have you ever had the inclination to 'contact' the ants the live in your backyard? This is comparable to what far more evolved and technologically advanced life would consider us.

And just so we are CLEAR people:

I know you weren't bashing just saying I really do share your opinions on the subject. But instead of us conforming, why can't they?

If history has taught us anything it is that when two different cultures collide for the first time; one usually snuffs the other one out.

Let me ask, if intelligent beings that are able to travel faster than light were to collide with us...do you think they would conform to US?

Like the poster says - it won't be machine guns vs. lasers; it will be sponges vs. nukes.
