Yeah, school and work have taken WAY too much time! My car has taken way too much money too. I don't even want to think of how nice of a drumset I could have if I put the money I've spent on mods towards music gear. I should have gotten the Cobalt instead of the WRX but then I'd be spending money on repairs! I've made myself get back into photography (had to upgrade gear and whatnot) so that's getting my into a more artistic mindset which helps with music too.

If ever you want some guys to jam with - let me know I have a few friends in various local bands that could always use a side project or something.

Freese wasn't in Tool, that was Danny Carey. I'm not sure who he's playing with now. Freese did all of the A Perferct Circle stuff, was the drummer for Puddle of Mudd's first album and a long list of others because he does a lot of session work.

thats cool. studio musicians make pretty good money and you dont have to tour.

...haha i say that as if i've actually had to make that decision before.

Theres a few industrial sized garages by Costco in Santa Cruz that bands go to all the time, its always rocking out....

my mini pearl set has mesh heads that are wayy too quiet...so i just throw a towel over each head. Cymbals i drape cloth over too, like a bandana screwed between the threads on top of the cymbal.

I think the drums sound better with the towel than without actually. But i dont have an ear for drumming yet so i wouldnt know.

I'm surprised you read TO post #4!

Kyle, I'll give the towel thing a shot whenever I get the set put up again. I remember playing with a towel on the snare once, and the stick response was just not the same. Out of all silencing things I've tried, mesh heads have the truest stick response. When I'm practicing I couldn't care less about how it sounds, it just needs to feel right.

I've actually seen Freese in his original band at Disneyland. Then after a million times with The Vandals. He's a pretty damn good drummer, obviously. Pretty funny guy as well.
