How was parking at the convention center for the volunteers? Safe? Meaning from being broken into.

I went today, it was pretty damn fun. Luckily I chose not to get there early since the racing was postponed to around 11:30. Luckily I got to see the touring cars (subaru) which was the main reason I went. It wasn't too busy, and there was plenty of parking at the arena, but be prepared to pay $15 for it! Try the parking lots that are around 1st and 2nd street, as those should be cheaper. Bring your own food and drinks as hamburgers cost about $5 and soda's $3. I think beers were around $7. I'm sure you can BYOB in a backpack as they weren't really checking bags.

Oh yeah and Turn #10 is pretty cool as far as watching the cars goes, there was a fare # of the F1 cars that were going too fast to enter the corner, so they kept going straight into the runoff area, then had to do a wheelspin induced 180 to get back on the track.

I took a quick look at the suby in the paddock area and snapped a few photos. There were some guys hanging out in the trailor next to it but I didn't want to bother them, plus I was tired and very sunburned (bring lotion). Oh well good driving brian! It was awesome to see a suby tearing down almaden ave.

I'm still not sure if I am going tomorrow, guess it depends on whether or not the general admission 1 day passes are still available. I will be the one caked in sunburn lotion

But I can't get a ticket nor do I know when you're driving.
Aren't general admission tickets available at the gates? I hope so otherwise I'm screwed for tomorrow!

Yes, ticket booths will be available at all gates race weekend.
The subaru (brian lock) should be racing on Saturday 11:45 - 12:15 for qualifying and the actual race is 5:30 to 6:00

Thanks for all the support guys. Today started out bumpy with a spark plug problem during warmup that kept us running on only 3 cyclinders. After that was fixed, we picked up 8 seconds and into the top three for qual 1. Our qualify session ended early though when the break fluid boiled going into the hairpin. I was going 130 mph and I went to step on the brakes and there was nothing there. Scary!!!! The car impacted the tire barrier softly and we should be ready to try to take poll tomarrow. More stories later, got to get to sleep cause we are getting up at like 5:00 am. See you guys at the track!

I was with Zoeb, Edgar, and Rob. Yea I saw you go into the tires from the stand right there... scary. Then I saw you back out and head to the pits. Lucky you didn't hit the red civic coupe that was already in the tires.

I also saw the #19 car (Elin) collide with the other Integra. From what it looked like, the Integra's headed for the nearest pick and pull. The Elin civic, however, looks like it might be able to be fixed for tomorrow. Hmm... unfortunate. He had the fastest qual time thus far.

Interesting qualifying session... good luck tomorrow.

Brian, I Believe, got 7th place, but we'll have to see what's official.

First lap out there were crashes, and it went yellow for about 4/5 laps... How come that Porsche passed you during yellow Brian? I also saw Tom Lepper pass two cars right infront of me during the same yellow, but on lap 4 or 5 of that yellow. Brian has a tough time getting past the Porsche, and when he did, he passed about 2 or 3 cars, but by then the cars 1-5 had passed though the slow traffic, and Brian was not able to catch up within the time left. If it wasn't for the yellow flag, things probably would have been better. Brians car was pretty fast in the Qualifying.

Who saw the Dale Sr. car on fire? That sucks man, to be driving a classis NASCAR car, and then have it catch fire on you. I don't know how it started but I saw what was left of it as it was being hauled away.

So many crashes! I pretty much stayed on my feet while working my station. I never really knew if a car was going to bail around my station, so I kept watch.

Tomorrow is going to be packed. Hope you see you guys there!

Brian finished 4th I believe, picking up quite a few spots during the race. Great drive after getting blocked like hell off the line by the BMW.

That Spoon RSX just checked out right off the bat and no one could come close.

Lotsa fun today! Have some INSANE pictures. Can definitely tell you that if you want to be as close as possible to the action without being an actual driver, working the race for SCCA is THE way to do it!

A Champ Car blowing by you about 30 FEET away at 100+ MPH is a rush that words don't descibe

Have LOTS of pics, and I know both -j- and 2cam16 were also taking lotsa pics today as well. We'll work on getting them online after tomorrow.
