sorry I didn't catch that while texting my friends, reading emails, tweeting, checking in on foursquare and liking stuff on facebook while I was driving.

its a cool concept that's been available for higher end cars like eurotrash...I mean Mercedes and BMW cars. The only drawback I see is that we shouldn't have these options in cars because its more of an excuse to not pay attention when driving.

I am just assuming this is a device that pokes you in the eye when you stop paying attention to the road.

Problems I see with my human eyesight :

1) Your eyesight equipped Subie jams on the brakes when your front buffer zone shrinks up, but the kid in the 1992 Civic behind you lacks technology. Thus you get rear ended

2) Your eyesight equipped Subie throttles you back when trying to make a quick pass in tight traffic conditions. Possibly leaving you hung out to dry yelling "GO!" and at risk of collision.

Solution = print two small pictures of empty road and tape them in front of the eye sight lenses

So this means I never have to manually use my brakes again? I can just coast up to stop lights and let the car brake for me!!

(This is a horrible idea)

It doesn't look for red lights or stop signs, so in theory you could blow through those, and it will let you, but if a car happens to cross in front of you at an intersection don't worry, because it'll apply the brakes to lessen the collision... hahaha, this would be a fun technology to play with, wish I was working on this project.

Eh I don't get why you guys are bagging on eyesight. Its a pretty neat feature IMO. More so useful for safety needs, for mothers who have kids in the car or long trips. Personally I would use eyesight in a Subaru outback or Forrester. But not in an Impreza.

Pay attention to the road? What the ****? If you can't react fast enough to the car in front of you, STAY FARTHER BACK, Maybe 3 seconds+? LoL. If I ever speed up and it slaps on the breaks before I pass around a car, that would suck.

yeah i can see that being a big problem...im not advocating late lane changes, but there are times where i would have gotten into a bigger accident if my car braked for me

I mean I sometimes speed up... which means getting closer to the car in front of me, before I pop out and move up... what if I get that close and BRAKES, then pop out?

Like the above dude said... hang dry.

OK, I totally see the hate towards this type of safety technology. It's justifiable to hate it since there will be those drivers that are already bad, become worse.

On the other hand, technology like this makes freeway trips easier with adaptive cruise control. I've had the pleasure of using a vehicle with intelligent cruise control (actually monitors wheels speed and applies/reduces throttle as necessary), but adaptive cruise control is a neat feature for those who do have to do long freeway trips.

Don't like the technology? Well, I'm pretty sure you can turn it off.
