i'm pretty impressed with the safety a subie provides. i had a patient who got hit and went off of hollywood boulevard and two stories down to oncoming traffic on 101, got hit again and was okay... and so were all 3 of his passengers. of course they're not indestructable like we may think. stuff like this just reminds us to chill out and concentrate on what we're doing.

I was pretty surprised as well that none of the air bags deployed. I remember losing my tail end when the freeway interchange got narrow, and when I slid into the mud, I hit the embankment at an angle (from the front end) and then immediately afterward the car flipped in the air upside down (In a very spectacular fashion, btw, but too bad I didnt have an in-car camera). Most of the impact came from the first landing on the roof, and I was lucky as well to be "rolling in the mud"
