Update:
So Friday I got a call from Justin saying my car was finished and the new fuel pump was in and working. I took off early from work and hurried down to San Jose to pick up my car. When I was pulling out of the lot, I was following Electra in her 07 STI. She exhorted me to follow her if I could, something I was more than happy to do. I pushed the engine up past 5500 RPM's and the car bucked like I was riding a horse. It did it again in every gear though not as strongly. I turned around and came back and went for a test ride with one of the techs. Sure enough, I pushed it to 5500 RPM's and it did it again. After we got back, the tech was trying to figure out what was going on, we hooked up the diagnostic laptop and the ECU wasn't throwing a single code. We started up the car and it sounded like ****, coughing and wheezing and the new fuel pump made a whining noise like it was dying a fitful death. We couldn't find the problem Friday night and the tech worked on it on Saturday to no avail. He's calling Subaru today to see if they can figure out what's the problem...
I want my STI back =(
