Sad, but an amazing video which shows that dogs are better then cats!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5OEKA47xFI

Breaks my heart to see an injured dog like that, but believe it or not, he comes out alive.

The whole point though is how awesome it is to watch that dog save the injured one by dragging him into a safe zone... I'd like to see a cat do that! hehhe, but seriously, I had to post this for you animal lovers to see... It's very sad watching it get hit (almost by an 04 Impreza outback!), thank god that bus/van thing missed it by straddling it. Makes me want to go and hug my dog.

(Note: I have dogs, and we have one cat rescue that we found last winter in a dirt parking lot in union city, she was 4 weeks old and almost dead from starvation and the cold, and it was raining so she was soaking wet. She's been a great cat since that day, she gets along with the dogs and I think she thinks she half dog... lol, but I still think dogs are better human companions bar none, and I don't hate cats, just think dogs are better. I have to admit that cats are very bad *** in the survival aspect, hunters... I respect them greatly for their abilities.)

Oh yeah, and I find it kind of messed up that people didn't stop or slow down traffic (which can be done safely) so the dogs wouldn't get hit any further.

I was in an incident a few years ago on 680 Osgood/Automall where a dog was running on the freeway... Traffic was pretty slow lucky for the dog, I stopped my car completely and turned on my hazards and tried to get the dog, and surprisingly enough a few people followed my lead... Yeah, it sucked for people in traffic, but a dogs life is more important than a little traffic, so anyone who was whining can go f' themselves... Somehow we were able to chase it into the side of the freeway by an on ramp where there is grass... We got our cars moved and a couple of us stayed there until Animal control came and got him. I don't know what kind of dog it was exactly, but looked a lot like a Siberian Husky but it was really tall so it could have been mixed with something.

Point of my post: It sucks that people didn't stop to help the dogs, but I understand that people wouldn't take that risk, but I know I would, I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if I didn't.

yeah some crazy ****, there's real stories out there about how a dog was lost during the trip and he made it back 50 miles away.

ive seen a documentry on a dog, where the pup was sold to another person. the mother(dog) would dissapear for couple of hours and come back, owner, not knowing whats going on, decided to follow her, the mother dog traveled across town, through traffic and people to the new pup's house and would play with her and come back home.

yeah, i would stop. I've got enough flares and stuff in my car to stop traffic. but the #1 thing is my own safety
i've heard so many horror stories of first responders pulling over to help people at night, and people have slammed into their cars on the shoulder.

i'd probably throw flares out into every lane and completely stop traffic

Daaaaaaaaamn, that sort of stuff trips me out big time. How friggin awesome is that, really? Dogs never stop amazing me, from the most simple things to some crazy things that you would never think they could do...

Cats are cool in the sense that they hunt really, really well and can survive on their own very easily as long as they don't have any human intervention and become dependent on it, but they don't have heart and personalities like dogs do. If properly trained, you can ALWAYS count on your loyal friends (dogs), which is the reason they are called "Mans best friend", they truly are. Cats lack that persona that dogs have, not saying cats don't have personalities, you dog people know what I mean... About them being loyal and would overcome anything to save you if you are in danger.

I <3 Doggies.

I don't know what my life would be like if we didn't have dogs... Damn, that would suck so badly.

Dude, people don't understand the importance of having road flares in their cars. Hell, when I go out to places like death valley, or into deep forests, I keep aerial 12 gauge flares with me that shoot almost 1 thousand feed or something really crazy. The are bright as HELL and are a clear sign of "SOS"... It'd be funny to use your 12gauge shotgun to put out flares onto the freeway... Instead of walking out into traffic, just aim and fire...
