I just put a CAI on my 2001 and might be able to help you out.
PM me on when and where.

Although, I'm gonna need it back afterward.

I stick with the old staples for rock, classic hum/failure/weezer/fnm/bungle/etc.

You're a little late, ilmaestro grabbed an ibanez acoustic from me a few weeks back that would have been good to get started on. Guitar Center will have good deals on inexpensive guitars. Can't go wrong with a fender if you go to look for one.

WORD
Yezzz, I'm liking the Ibanez. Picked up the Hum cd, downward is heavenward for really cheap the other day. It's good music, but the singer isn't quite right for me, he gets boring or something I lose attention halfway through the album because of that. Oh well. Gotta love the other picks though. Failure never leaves my changer, right between Cave In and Year of the Rabbit

Edit: Scott, still gotta look up that band I recommended, Innaway. If you like the music that's on their site, there is another site where you can sample some more.
