Sac area guys... dumb question...

So... how's the IT job market now... I am only getting two days in Sac and the other three days I'm in the Bay Area.

It looks like my two Sac days are going away soon...

Maybe I'll switch industries... how about CAD jobs...

Ugh, dumb question I'm betting...

Sac sucks for IT. I got a job here by the skin of my teeth, after close to a year. Don't even try.

Not trying to be an ***, btw, I just know what you're thinking and don't want to give you false hope up here. It's tough everywhere, though.

Yeah, its pretty rough in Sac right now. There are openings, but there is also a fair amount of competition. There are plenty of people who were in IT a few years back, got laid off, and desperately don't want to move to the Bay all fighting for just a handful of positions.

CAD jobs are pretty rare around here. most openings are for architectural drafting and use AutoCad, so if you're a mechanical, solid works, or pro-e guy you might be hosed. monster almost always has a couple architectural positions listed.

Thumbs down

bleh, that's what I was afraid of...

I have been commuting for about two years, now since I bought the house. I swindled two days a week up here in the Sac office, but the company I work for is opening another office in the Bay Area and I just KNOW they are going to pull those two days and make me cover the new office.

I was hoping... doesn't look good.

I'm getting DSL on Wednesday and I will be burning up Monster and Dice after that.

An AutoCAD job was just something I was tossing around. It's been years since I've actually worked with it...

I think it just depends on your education and experience. How does the resume look in these departments? I've seen a few friends pick up jobs recently around Sac as software developers... I don't know about IT though. The problem is that everyone and their mom wants to "get into IT". This makes it hard.
