You are correct. This was posted here a while back. Since GM has some ownership of both Saab and Subaru, the platform was shared. The base model will use a N/A Saab motor, but the sportier model is basically a WRX wagon with smoother skin and a reworked interior. I like it, though I can't imagine spending that much dough when the WRX is so similar. I also wonder if the tranny is going to be ofthe same weak reputation, as I don't see Saab owners putting up with such a potentially poor design.

Right on except for a few points, The base model (9-2X) will use the N/A EJ251 base model Impreza engine. GM has full ownership of SAAB and only a 20% stake in Fuji Heavy Industries, Subaru's parent company.

I got all excited when I saw the commercial during game 5 of the 9-2x and it stated 22,900 and the whole commercial was the turbo version. Look at my wife and said sweet, it's the same price as the WRX. But nope 22,900 is for the N/A version.
