Rotella users roll call
Hi all,
My factory maintenance package just expired so I'll be switching motor oil and getting work done at an independent scooby shop. I'm looking to hear some first hand comments about rotella. Since I'm at stage 2 at this point I believe that I should switch to 5/40 now to better deal with the new power level and associated lubricant needs. I've been looking at amsoil, Eneos and rotella. But for some reason rotella diesel oil just sounds funny to put into my car. Thanks! This is for a 2012 STI btw. |
I used it for the longest time.
Now I get motul because... well I work at a place that sells it. |
my car ran fine with t6 and i sold the car with 176k miles. Used t6 for like 70k miles.
|
 I wonder how long before the flaming begins again,
but anyways, I'm running T6. I used to run amsoil 5w-30 and switched simply because i'm a cheap asian, changing amsoil every 3k gets expensive. |
another oil thread this week! woohoo!
|
Using T6. It relatively cheap, easy to find (walmart), and has proven to be kind to our engines through UOAs.
|
Been using T6 since I got the car
|
I've used it for a good 30kish miles, car currently has 207k. Burns a quart every 3000 miles or so but that's probably due to my mileage.
|
Did any of you experience any loss in power or a drop in mpg? 5/40 seems a bit heavy...
|
amsoil for me. Heard nothing bad about Rotella though.
|
T6 for my legacy and miata, no problems

Time to start popping that popcorn and start enjoying the show :D but yeah, I started running rotella from my last oil change. Not a huge difference but it seems to be smoother overall. |
We use T6 Rotella in our Subed Up Forester XT. Currently running STi levels of power through it, but not beating on it. Doesn't drink much, if any oil.
'04 Forester XT 184k on the odometer. |

All I am going to say boys and girls, is read the damn manufacture recommendations. |
Great oil. Won't use anything else. The recommended weight is just too thin for a performance engine. Its only recommended because Subaru has problems reaching government regulations for fuel economy.
T6 is a robust oil. With normal driving habits you can easily get away with doing 5k mile intervals between oil changes. Some have gone as much as 7.5k, and at that many miles a used oil analysis has shown the oil to still be as good as other oils with zero miles. |
