Can anybody recommend some good, nice looking, rollcage padding. I need some for my head area but wanted some nice looking black stuff.

If anybody can point me in the right direction that would be great

 

I o port in Lafayette has both the real stuff for your head for when your in the car and then the fake **** for anywhere else you want padding. The fire resistant sfi rated **** feels hard as a rock... but apparently it works.
Andnits not cheap. But what is.

Go old school, pipe insulation and duct tape :P

 

It feels hard as a rock because it's designed to be used in much more extreme circumstances. If it felt soft to bang your head into it while getting into the car, it would simply be "not there" when your helmet hit it in an impact situation.


I know you are just being silly, but we actually would put this stuff around the PROPER STUFF in places because it's nicer for the humans that are working around in the car while it's not at speed.

 

Silly, no, back in the 70's and 80's that is all we had. I think I had 3-4 bugs with class 11's in them that had pipe insulation and duct tape or electrical tape. Then someone came up with vinyl wrap around covers for said pipe insulation that zipped/snapped on, that was high class!

Hehe yep, I had one too, full class 11, ran it at a local thing up in pismo once...got it stuck first lap LOL!

 

THis BTW folks is a Class 11 Bug:

Rules: Must retain all OEM body parts, OEM lights, OEM weight +/- 100lb, Must retain OEM 1600cc engine with dual port heads and a SOlEX 30pic-3 carburetor. Must retain points ignition but may have a 009 distributor. may have aftermarket exhaust but may not use a stinger (must have muffler)

It is, perhaps one of the most grueling, destructive, hardest Baja classes you can be in because it is not about the car, it is about the driver's skill.

 

Probably for the best. Those things are ROUGH, nothing like a trophy truck lol, thats like racing over pillows. No travel no bypass BUT IT IS 100% A DRIVERS CLASS!!!
