Everyone has different ways of calculating it I guess. On the MR-2 Spyder forum, there are people saying they are consistently getting around 40 mpg and over sometimes. I never see more than 30. Same with the R32 board - people saying they are getting as much as 36mpg but me, with the cruise set to 65 on nearly flat ground for a few hours, I don't ever see more than 26. Both cars are stock in ways that would affect fuel mileage, and I check my tire pressure at least once a week.

Is that 175 out of Middleton? I love that road! One of these days we should meet and drive up to Clear Lake. Stop at the market at Loch Lomond.

Car Info: '02 PSM WRX
It all depends on driving habits. On my '02 WRX, I was able to get over 27mpg.
Now, with an EJ25 shortblock in it, I'm getting about 24.5 on average going between 65-70 on a daily basis. I get ~ 320 - 340 miles per 13-14 gallon fill up.

In my '03 WRX 5spd sedan which was stock except for Vishnu -0, Eibachs and P1's w/ 225/45-17 Yokohama ***CENSORED TO PREVENT BS*** tires I would never see more than 23-24mpg. Usually it was closer to 20 and on hot runs up to SF or so it would be more like 15-16mpg. One time I was bored on a weekend and tired of hearing people getting 27-30mpg in their WRX's when I wasn't seeing anywhere near it - so I drove back/forth from Sunnyvale to SF on 101 w/ the cruise set to 65, filled up, calculated and yep - 24mpg. Maybe I need to find a new way to do math. Maybe people are rounding up with the miles and down with the gallons? I dunno.

take the STI bro ........ i took my WRX last year to Eugene, OR ...... had hella fun ..... took me about 9 hours and Portland is like 1 hour farther away. Total was like i filled up like 4 times about 10 gallon each time ....... was running COBB AP Stage 2 map at that time. about 26-27 mpg. U can not compare the fun that u would have driving ur STI compare to some rental car.
