ok so I’m driving back to our shop today from running errands and I spy this, I actually drove though it at first and thought it was just road construction, until I got up to the center and saw a bunch of what looked like radar guns on tripods. I went back after with my DV camera and make a quick video of how it was set up. Its about 8 Megs (sorry 56kers) and shows the line and some of the equipment. I was parked about 100 yards away from where the machines were so you cannot see exactly everything, but its a good view of the setup.

I was doing a lap around the block so that I could get some more footage when I noticed a white full-size truck that looked to have a half-rack on the top, when I looked closer, I noticed it was a contraption to route the exhaust upwards like a semi would, I got some footage of the vehicle. I think they were trying to calibrate it for semi trucks, but I always thought that Diesel trucks were smog exempt, so I don’t know what it up the sleeves of CARB.

I went back a third time to get some more footage and record when I drove past, sorry its shaky, I was driving while taking the video :P

after watching the video, I think now that it may just be some kind of survey. There are no uniformed officers there to stop people. This may be a good thing!

You would think that with the monstrous state budget deficit, that they could find something better than VERY EXPENSIVE IR gear to waste money on??? Maybe save some money? Oh, I forgot, tax and spend Democrats run California. They do not know how to save!
