they have been out for years, its really hard to pin point a car when everyone is going 70mph in traffic on 101. And like the poster said just turn off your engine and u will be fine lol

This is why I want to find a way to register my car elsewhere. Just another way for the man to try and get money out of the lower class.

You think these things are set up in rich areas and targeting mercedes and bimmers, or lower wealth areas with a bunch of sentras and honda that people can barely afford to keep running as it is?

As nice as that sounds, I don't think class is an issue in this.

The issue is CA bleeding any and all resident dry to support their huge, grossly inflated government.

I think that's correct but I'd have a really hard time believing that studies were not done. A lot of money goes in to these systems and they need maximum return.

What if the owner refuses or fails to show up to this "Voluntary Repair Program"?
Then I'm sure it becomes an INVOLUNTARY repair program!

Back in the mid '90s, the ARB were testing these stations on select onramps in the Sacramento area.
They had young engineering students do a lot of the lab work, data collecting, etc.
In order to collect data from the morning commute, sometimes the stations(white vans) would be left in situ overnight.
I've been told that some of the vans were vandalized by parties unknown.

BTW, turning off your engine does nothing.
