Exactly! Some of the biggest problems out on the road come from people trying to think instead of just following the rules. The rules are there because people thinking and making their own decisions causes problems. People are too stupid to stay on the correct side of the road, so we have lines now. Some people feel it's okay to cross them. This is stupid. People are too stupid to spend most of the time looking through the windshield instead of at a tiny electronic device inside of the vehicle, so we have a law that specifically tells people to not do that, in addition to laws that are ostensibly along the lines of common sense (don't do stupid stuff while driving, etc).

The next logical step is to take away the ability to drive, which seems to be coming in the form of a self-driving car. Heh.

Regarding common sense - I've been calling it "uncommon sense" for a couple years now. Seems to fit better.

The day I drive home and DO NOT experience road rage directed at me or watch it happen to someone else right in front of me will be a fun and pleasant day.

Around ~3x a week as some freak is trying to get me to crash, I wonder, is this the time? Turns out not yet.

My camera is mounted to my windshield just in front of my rearview and runs all the time so I don't have to worry about getting my phone out to record the latest impending disaster purposely created by the latest person who feels personally slighted by the happenstance of traffic.
