Rims + tires

I need new rims and tires... the rims must be no more than $1k for all 4 (250 each), and tires about 165 each.

I don't drive in the snow really.... maybe a couple times/year.
I'd like good grip but also very long life.

Please let me know what you reccomend.

I want 17" rims and my car is lowered 1.2" so there isn't a ton of room for tires.

Rotas are definitely the brand wheel you would be interested in. Contact Zoeb, Larry, Gagan, or Joe @ Subydude for the best package deals on wheels and tires. Also check their website: www.subydude.com.

you've got a lot of choices with that much money. i would also recommend rotas though, they are a little less expensive and would leave you more money for tires.

Mainly need opinions on tires and reccomendations on what will grip well while still lasting. (daily driver)

Also, need to decide between chrome rims or dark colored rims or a combo (dark rims with chrome lip).

If you don't plan to autocross and use them at track days I'd get a set of Bridgestone RE750's. They have excellent grip, wet and dry and have a better wear rating than most performance tires. I believe they are about $150 per tire.

Chrome rims are ugly. Potenza S03s are excellent tires, but $$$...

If you want new than look at the above suggestions, if you don't mind used you should look in the bay area sale section there are some good deals floating around there....I think that these might have some sale pending but some nice combos none the less. ROTAS are cool but everyone has them.

I just recently got Falken FK-451's. So far, I love them. Good grip, very good in the wet, not a lot of money, and have a 280 treadwear so should last a little while.

The Falken ST-115 has a 360 treadwear rating, a few friends have them and speak highly of them. They are also known to be very quiet.

All chrome rims are for trucks and lowriders. I don't like all dark.. the wheel seems to get lost in the tire. I have gun metallic with polished lip and I think it looks very nice. But then that's just me.

Anyone know a place to get the Potenza S-03 less than 167?
What about the Yokohama AVS ES100 for less than 102?
and the FALKEN Ziex ZE-512 for less than 110?

Which of these three would you reccomend most?

Also... anyone else have anything to say about the Falken FK-451 or ST-115?

I have the st-115 they are some nice tires in 225.45.17. I also had some re-750's in 215.45.17 and s0-3's in 225.45.17, the st's are well worth the money. In the wet they stay planted and in the dry (in my opinion) stick better then the s0-3's. Do yourself a favor and save your money and get a nice set of light rims instead. My s0-3's were bouncy you have to make sure you have the right air pressure, they were not so good in the rain compared to the st's that have water channels down the center of them. The re-750's were also nice and ride smooth. My opinion based on experience would lean towards the st's

vulcantire.com has very good prices on falkens, I've ordered a set of 4 from them and was happy with the purchase and shipping time.
