yes that is why i wanted to find a chassis that would have a turbo charged larger displacement motor..
Correct me if i am wrong but so long as the motor came with the car or was an option for the car you can pretty much go to town on it (ie bump up displacemnet, modify Compression ratio's, etc..)

that and if i break something i cant replace it for 40 dollars..
**** i can buy a new transfer case for a typhoon for 200 bucks RETAIL...
not to mention i can get domestic car parts for damn cheap.. ie a turbo 350 or 400 with proper manual valve bodies and **** for under a grand.. damn good price..
plus if something breaks i wont feel bad welding a sculpture to the frame to make it work again.. haha since im sooooo bad *** with a welder.. haha
regardless this isnt my blab threead.. this is a ****ing **** that is bad *** video thread..!!!
anyways at this point in time it is still pie in the sky.. need to get **** sorted out..

If you're really serious about wanting a rally car, I highly suggest you put aside your fixation on horsepower and instead buy a used FWD rally car and learn how to drive it properly first.
At that point you'll realize that HP is the last of your worries. What you'll want is, in order:
1) a bombproof suspension
2) a bombproof chassis and skidplate
2) a bombproof transmission, geared properly
4) good tires
Horsepower is somewhere around 15th on the list, after things like "beefier cooling", "bigger alternator", and - for Rim or Gorman - "five extra exhausts".
At that point you'll realize that HP is the last of your worries. What you'll want is, in order:
1) a bombproof suspension
2) a bombproof chassis and skidplate
2) a bombproof transmission, geared properly
4) good tires

I could car less about HP.. i want TQ, and i have driven on many roads that look exactly like those at rim.. just in shasta, napa, solano, and yolo counties.. And in rwd trucks.. The STUPID WAY..
And trust me i wont do it half assed.. the platform i am looking at will require some suspension fab, but other then that i can drop a turbo 400 or 350 into it with no issues, that in combo with a proper suspension and the thing should be built like a champ.. just will take a long time to get it proper given how much i can spend on it..
And im looking at suspensions with 8-14in of travel.. so the exhaust isnt as much of an issue as making damn sure the frame, suspension, braking and what not can handle the abuse.. And you can bet your *** i will make sure to properly "test" the rig.. Shouldnt be to much of an issue, just sucks *** that all my off road and 4x4 racing buddies are out in ca and i am in MD.. no biggie tho.. it will get sorted..
and more hp is allways bettar!!! ill make it faster then a srt4 damnit!
