Results of scoring on RRRRAD !!!

Because we got a late start we only ran 3 timed sections rather than 4, but that still gave us 15 controls of which only one was dropped, so 14 were scored.

The first timed section, Sweetwater Springs Canyon, everyone was still a little shakey on the run/work concept. Car 2 actually scored a 0 on the first control, but missed the fact that he is supposed to drive the rest of the section at the time for car 12, so he ran too early for the rest of the leg and piled up a few points.

Car 4 ran a really solid leg, especially it being only his 2nd rally and her first, they totaled only 65 points in the first 4 controls, but because of the confusion of the rest of the field coming in several minutes early to the last control, car 4 was missed there.

Because of that and all the max scores that resulted there, I decided to drop the Lambert Bridge control from scoring.

Cars 10 and 8 also had pretty good numbers on that first section.

The second section Montain House saw a lot of the field put off by RV traffic on the free zone leading into the timed portion, but car 10 managed to run it with a total of 66 points, followed by car 2 with 213 and car 6 with 215.

At that point Car 10 was leading with a total of 184, 101 points less than the next competitors in Car 4, who were carrying 285, while car 8 was another 142 points behind with 427.

The final timed section on Comptche Ukiah Rd saw quite a turning in the action, car 6 finally got his groove on and managed to roll through those 5 controls in 8 miles with a total error of 45 points, the best section score of the day! (which is quite remarkable when one considers it is his first timed rally ever, and he had no navigator!)
Car 8 (also running solo) had a decent run through getting 86 points added, Car 4 got 166, just 2 points ahead of car 2 for that section while our front running car 10 had their worst section score of 210.

However, Car 10's lead over the first sections was able to withstand the hit, their total of 394 was the lowest final score at the end, so gotwrx is the official winner of the first annual Redwood Rendezvous Road Rally Adventure Drive!!

Second place honors go to Huck with 451, 3rd is Daredevil with 513 4th is bushido with 541 and iBlueVirus wound up with the high score, totalling 723.

Thanks again for joining us, I promise next year will be a lot less punishing, but at least as much fun!

Mark your calendars now for the weekend closest to the Full Moon in October 2004, (I need to figure out what that date is....) for the second annual

Redwood Rendezvous Road Rally Adventure Drive.

I won, I won, I won. Hooray for me

Got stuck behind a pickup going 30 with no place to pass when the CAST was 40. on that last section. Kinda screwed up my average.

Thanks to all for coming out and a special thanks to Pete for doing all that work to put the thing together. The combination of challanging "free" driving and "timed" section made for a great day of driving. My only complaint was that the scenery and weather was so great but I couldn't stop and take pictures.

Great meeting all you guys. Looking forward to another opportunity.

Tim

Man, that first section and second ones i just sucked. I WILL do much better next year now that i have a clear understanding of the timed / leapfog rules of the rally we were running. I still had a wonderful time and enjoyed everyone company.

Pete, Leo, Huck, Max and Tim you're all good guys. I hope we all can do it next year.

Anybody want to do a short run-work thing November 2, Sunday?

We didn't do that first section and I could put a couple more together for an afternoon into evening thing, maybe 3-4 hours long.

let me know....

yikes, I popped out of replying to this one and caught that, careful Rich, you'll wind up with a brown nose if you keep that up.

Let's see if we can get a few other victims out for that one....
