Restaurant Review: Henry's World Famous Highlife Barbeque
So I saw the "Highlife" nearly everyday on my way to work. I am a huge fan of BBQ, Baby Backs, Tri Tip, basically if it's been slow cooked by indirect smoke. I'm gonna eat that ish... Today I got out of the house a little early and decided to stop by for some grub. From HWY 87 off the Julian Exit, go straight at the light, cross streets are W. St. John and North Almaden Blvd, and you instantly get hit with the sweet smell of hickory and oozzy juicy meats cooking to perfection. I ordered a hlf rack of baby back ribs, the hallmark of any good BBQ joint. I am a sort of connoisseur when it comes to ribs and BBQ. I've traveled hundreds of miles just to dine on a tip from a fellow BBQ lover. Henry's scored big with their baby backs!!! Absolutely perfect!!! Moist as could be, smoked to perfection, tender, and very little sauce. The meal included a baked potato, salad and half a loaf of garlic bread. Total price: $18.35. What a freakin deal!!!

Its all about Everett and Jones for me. Not the Jack London one, but the shadier one in Berkeley on San Pablo. I usually just pick up a full rack take it home and make my own rice, mash, and sides (opening cans of beans, corn).
Where is this highlife place?
Any other suggestions for BBQ in the east bay?

I used to see that place all the time on my commute. Where the hell do you park with all that construction going on? The street?
It looks old school authentic.

It's my understanding that this place is a sort of institution. It's been there for a long time.

OMFG I kept thinking "Henry's that sounds so familiar..." and when I clicked the link and saw the place, I knew why... My sister and her friends used to go here allllll the time, any gathering or whatever would be here. This place has fricking AMAZING food and a meatmeet sounds fab for sure. They will let you take over that lil room in the back where you can fit a good amount of people. Bartenders there are pretty cool too (were when I was going there). Good amount of parking under the overpass and stuff.
This place rocks!
