Question Remember the ol' battery to trunk mod?

I remember a friend having done this mod and also remember seeing it posted somewhere. Anyone know where to get a tray for the battery as well?

Thanx

you can probably find the tray/relocation kit locally at any large auto parts store, but cheapest might be www.SummitRacing.com

Summit has the airtight tray. I think that one is made by moroso. Alot of my Domestic car friends use that particular one (I think its Moroso), but I don't see why it wouldn't work in our cars as well.

a battery tray, is a battery tray, is a battery tray....doesnt matter what car it goes into, unless there is a clearance issue somewhere.

not really, some are not sealed &/or vented. Most people that relocate batteries do the mod for motorsports competition, which require sealed/gel cell batteries anyways. But for general use, you don't want a shoddy battery tray (box) that'll let fumes and other stuff get into the cabin/trunk.

better weight distribution. the battery is a dense, heavy object in the engine compartment on the driver's side. its easy to move compared to other heavy components.

I do battery relocations all the time at my stereo shop and we use the Stinger sealed dry cell batteries. They can not leak so no battery box is needed. They come with a metal mounting sleeve that can simply be bolted down to the floor of the trunk along with a battery strap to safely secure the unit. They also come in really small sizes that can fit in the spare tire well. I have a SP800 that weighs only 24.9 Pounds and is only 5" tall and roughly 7" square. I have had mine for almost 4 years and in 3 cars and it starts better then my brand new Subaru battery did. Check them out at www.stingerelectronics.com
