Unhappy Realistic Trade-in Value

Hey guys,

Because of the problems I have had with SOA and Green Valley braking my tranny, and then giving me guff about fixing it, I am seriously considering trading in my car on something else. My question is about trade-in values. I have a Blaze Yellow '02 with Premium Sound, compass mirror, and carbon fiber trim with 38k miles. KBB says I should be able to get $15,600 as a trade in. Does anyone know how close to the mark this really is? Any ideas on what I should realistically expect to get?

it really depends on the dealer and your negotiating skills.

what kind of letter is this??

I've never heard of this, that letter is non-binding...think of the possibilities...

I am actually going to be using a broker, so I think that I may be able to get a pretty good amount since it is my broker's job to negotiate. We'll see.

Damn Chris, you've been through hell and back man. If I were you, I'd trade it in for an 04 and just start with a clean slate...

Green Valley Subaru...what a schithole....

that they blew-up your tranny doesn't suprise me in the least, they rebuilt some other member's motor with the wrong heads and blew it up too.

Unfortunately I bought my STi there, and I came close to pummeling one of the Salespeople that I dealt with...

Sorry to hear man, I feel for you.

jdepould: It isn't costing me thing. They charge the dealer. It's a strange setup they have, could almost sound too good to be true. You tell them what you want, they find it for you and bring it to your home. If you want to trade in your car, they find a local wholesaler who offers the most in pick it up when they drop off your new car. I found out about this broker through a good friend whos father is sailing buddies with the president. It's called New Autos, Inc. http://www.newautosinc.com/ .

Chris: I may do just that. The only reason I may not is becasue I can't stand the thought to giving more money to SOA, the same crooked company that won't help me resolve the problems caused by Green Valley. I am a die hard Suby fan, and always will be as far as the WRC is concerned, but that isn't reason enough to stick to a company that has not provided satisfactory customer service for me. I'm thinking about buying a 20th Anniversary GTi slightly used (less than 15k miles) if my broker can find me a good yellow or blue one at the right price. The asking price from dealers seems to be about $20,900, but if my broker can negotiate one down to about $18,500 that's most likely the road I'll go down.

I know I know. They have their problems too, I've owned a few before. HOWEVER, they have always taken care of warrenty claims as they should, and that's what I'm most concerned about.
