Oh man I'm so sorry dude.
On one hand I would keep the car and drive it around on special occasions like others have suggested.
On the other hand, I would sell the car, and donate all 100% to some cancer research foundation in his name.
Edit: Oops, just read that you're never going to get rid of it. Then I'd just keep it and drive it only a little. Keep it forever. Take care of it. Clean it often.

I had this same situation happen with a buddy of mine that lost his battle with cancer and a highly race modified 67 Chevelle we worked on. I ended up passing on it, told his Dad that he should keep it. He ended up meeting a kid that had a similiar cancer and they entered the car in a drag competition with the kid driving it. They ended up winning and using the money to help with his treatments, made me pretty glad that I did pass on it.
first of all, sorry about your friend...
after reading this... how about raise money with the ride and donate that money in his name to cancer research foundation or something?
maybe compete in car shows? i am sure others can think of something else as well. this way, you keep the car (since you don't really want to sell) AND able to help others in his name!

Keep it, get a license plate with his name and drive it with pride. When your ready, you can sell it and donate the money to cancer, that's if you decide to sell it.

so sorry again to hear about your friend. ive lost so many friends and family lately. *hugs*
what were your friends ultimate plans for the car??? did he want to track it? race it? show it? i think you should continue and live his dream with the car. if you plan to sell it and donate money i think you should do it up nice and pretty........ finish what was started then auction it off for charity in his name.

If it were me i would never be able to let go of it, it has too much sentimental value. I would just finish his project the way he would have wanted it and just keep it.
