RANT! damn hippy biker parade on van ness
Don't know what the **** was going on, but I was stuck at an intersection for 15 minutes as a hug train of obnoxious hippy bikers were running the red lights. a few of bunch would park their bikes in front of cars at the intersection while waving and smiling WHILE smack talking. there were THOUSANDS of these a$$hats, and traffic was backed up for blocks when i poked my head out of my window.
smh smh
as someone who biked for 4 years in college at UC davis, bicyclists in the city are the ****ing worst.

That's what you get for having a liberal mayor who let stuff like this go on...
I saw one news report showing an SFPD telling a driver that he should have known better to drive on the last Friday of each month.
Sigh.... that's why I hate that city so much...

When I lived in Chicago we'd have to sit and wait for the drawbridges. First world problems.
Be thankful at least some of those bikers don't bring their car every day.

Speaking of which, has anybody seen what the city did with the parking on JFK Dr in Golden Gate Park near the museums? They were concerned about parked cars opening their doors and hitting bicyclists on the bicycle lane.
So a couple months ago they decided to move the parking to near the middle of the road, and moving the bike lane to the curb (essentially they reversed the bike lane and parking). This made it "safer" for the bicyclists, but basically made it dangerous for everyone else. The driving lane is super narrow (barely enough for a bus to go through without going over the solid white line on the right, or the double yellow line in the middle). On top of that, anybody who parked their cars and opened their doors are now in danger of getting their doors hit by a passing car. Same goes for the driver. Drivers have to swerve if someone suddenly opens their door, and the driver is now in danger of hitting oncoming traffic.
And after all that, not only is it more dangerous to drive there, there's significantly less parking space as well.

Speaking of significantly less parking space, in SF, Oak and Fell Streets will, in a couple months (sometime in spring 2013), have 100+ parking spaces eliminated in order to accommodate a separated bike lane for both streets.
