Just read the article...

I guess I'm outta the loop b/c I had no idea that Fedor left Pride. ?wtf?

*edit*
Can any of y'all MMA enthusiasts shed light on this? So far my search has shown, as I understand it, that he's still the Pride HW Champ, but that his contract w/ them expired after Showdown on NYE 2006. And now he's w/ a promotion from his motherland. Is that about right?

winning a fight with a broken arm is a puss?

WTF are you talking about? The man is what 42/43 years old. How long could he keep beating on his body like this. He proved he could still fight. He got the belt back. He defended it. He has other opportunities...why not go away on top.

Better than being someone like Joe Montana...refusing to give up even when you can't perform anymore. Tarnishing your legacy. Rather be like Jordon and go out on top. Belt in hand. Money in my pocket. Brains that still function.

hes 44, and he wanted to fight fedor, dana could/would not deliver.. which pretty much added insult to injury since couture has pretty much put the ufc where it is and helped make zuffa a billion dollar company...thats there couture felt he was disrespected..among other things

yeah that says enough about his charecter right there....give me the top notch or i'm done. He knows he only has so many fights in him and he doesn't want to waste any more time.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him find an alternate route to fedor. Then retire comepletely from MMA. The release sounded to me like he's just leaving UFC not MMA fighting.

yah, he has completely dis-associated himself from UFC, even leaving his commentator gig... i think once the dust settles, he'll go after fedor.. if its not too late

Not to get in a Jordan debate, but he did comeback with the Wizards before he left for good. That's not exactly going out on top.

True....kinda like me thinking about montana or marcus in KC...try to forget about it..haaaa.

those two years almost dipped his average under 30ppg.

When I think about Jordon I think about championship no.6 and how it easily could have be no.9 if he hadn't taken the time off.

When I think of Randy I'll think about 6 belts.

I disagree. If he loves to fight which he has said then he should do as long as he lives. All things come to an end.........no reason to be ashamed...I would be ashamed to quit early just b/c I couldn't perform the same anymore. The last fight I saw him in he looked like he was on meth..........

44 years old is early?

How old are you?

How many athletes in ANY sport are still around at 44...football? Hockey? O.k. how about basketball?

Body's don't heal the same at 44. Shoot 34 for that matter.

I think he's gonna find another way to fight fedor but even if he doesn't...nothing but respect for a guy that's fighting folks half his age.

what does that look like? NEWS FLASH!!! his last fight he completely dominated a younger and bigger opponent... kinda like what he always does when hes able to force his will upon his opponents and win.. the dude is just a 100% determined bull and theres not much that can stop him.. i guess that makes him look like hes on meth
