its actually a TON more travel, there was even a spot about it on one of the last WRCs where Niki Grist talked about the differences in WRC suspension and their street car counterpart

Can you buy aftermarket suspensions that are similar?

i.e., setup for really rough dirt.

DMS is probably the most popular Rally suspension for Subaru's here abouts- actually I think they are in Australia or someplace, but they have a few different outlets here in the states

http://www.dmshocks.com/

The WRC team has really expensive stuff that Pro Drive works over, I've heard they sell last years WRC spec suspension kits to privateers for about $20,000 per corner, but then we're talking about $500-$700,000 cars- so parts is gonna be really pricey at that level.

yea i know thanks that was actually pretty cool to see that they gut it and basically rebuild it.the reason i ask this is because i am into pre-runenr trucks which are like a baja truck.they have anywhere from 10 to 38 inches of travel and i was just wondering it is was the same deal on the WRC cars.

I'd expect that 15-20 inches is probably about all the usable travel on the WRC cars, you can get an idea looking at the first picture with the car on jackstands, fully compressed the back tire is inside the fender by about an inch or so....

Not Baja- or Dakar-ready, but pretty capable none the less.

I believe that is correct too. OHLINS shocks alone are couple Gs per corner so I wouldn't be surprised to see the costing ~ 10k a corner.
