rally x games on abc now
everything will be SUPER SPECIAL stages from now on.
last year was great since it also had the traditional stages and a SS to finish it off.
i understand where to the standpoint of TV, and logistics are concerned. it's much easier to do a SS than end to end rally stages.
oh well...
(i know point to point anything racing has been loosing steam in this country for decades. for example, the recent tour de france, people would arrive at a spot, wait for hours, then watch as racers fly by them for less than a minute. in the US, criteriums are the race of choice.
desert off road racing. never gained that popularity. but stadium off road racing was popular in the 80s, until the unfortunate murder of mickey thompson. now CORR is popular than ever...
people would rather watch in a nice seat in a stadium watching them go around in a circle.
and to the fans, this is much funner and better. i guess i'm just too old school in some ways....)
sigh...

i was there for the x-games as well, it was sweet to watch, the whole thing was a blast but i think the rally was by far the coolest. we taped most of the rally, especially the parts where there were sweet crashes involved
i dont know if they showed this on the tv, but did anyone see or hear of a cameraman getting hit by a dirt bike during freestyle? we got it on a cell phone (video) it was pretty crazy but played down

If you have some time on your hands, there's an interesting thread on the subject running over on Special Stage.com
http://www.specialstage.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=28139
(OK so the first few pages are nothing, about page 7 or so it starts getting more interesting)
