i dremel'd my taillights and painted them, DO NOT DO IT! lol if i were to do it again, and I won't, i would do what lightwerks does, I talked to one of them about it and they use a hot knife and cut exactly where they need to and only deep enough to crack them open, a dremel tears things apart. Especially having to seal them back up, I used RTV sealant and it works very well but the outcome on the edges of your lights does not looking very sexy.

Of course there is a difference in light output, whenever you tint a bulb or glass that covers the bulb you are "tinting" the bulb and decreasing output of light. However, since it's the tail lights the difference is so minuscule that it would be hard for an expert to even notice. Besides, red catches your eye the most, so it doesn't matter if a light is dim or bright, ANY flashing red light will catch a humans eye.

So with that being said, anyone know where I can get clear red model paint? Perhaps Kragen has an actual kit that is made for this?
I'm confused. I was talking about the taillights that lightwerkz sells with LED's rather than incandescent bulbs. Their led setup produces a visibly noticeable dimmer running light for night use, and even when braking, it is visibly dimmer than a bone stock OEM taillight. I didn't say anything about "tinting" bulbs. Not sure if you were replying to my observations of lightwerkz' LED tails versus OEM tails, or if you thought I was talking about what you were trying to do. In point of fact, if you DO plan on opening your tails, and applying some sort of red film, or automotive applicant that tints the plastic red, you would actually be doing yourself a service, as it's shown that using red plastic housings with a regular white incandescent will illuminate more effectively red, than a clear plastic housing will with a red bulb. I didn't say anything bad about that, if that's what you're implying. Again, I'm still confused as to your reply.
