1. Where did you have your STi lowered?
2. Would you reccomend the shop to other STi owners?
3. How many inches did you lower it from stock?
4. How much did you pay?
5. How are you enjoying the car now? (ie what are the benefits?)
6. Are there any negative side effects to be aware of when lowering an STi?
7. Other comments/suggestions?
Thanks guys!! Kelly :-)

note, I haven't gotten my car lowered but some general info..
1. Most people do their own suspension work, if you want lower look, just get springs. There are many good brands out there like Prodrive, STi JDM's, Eibach, H+R, Crucial, Tanabe GF's. So basically, if you get springs, learn to do it yourself, it's pretty rewarding. I think a lot of bigger shops here can do springs with great quality such as GST Motorsports, Method Built, LIC...check out their vendor forums.
2. I'd recommend any of these shops.
3. Inching depends on, again, the specific springs you get, some go just 1 inch around to 1.5 and maybe 2 , all dependent on the springs you get.
4. Expect to pay 300-500 for a set of new springs and maybe 50 for a professional install, price may vary, call the shops.
5.Benefits of lowered springs are of course the looks and ride quality and cornering, all dependent on springs.
6. Negative sides of lowering is blowing out your stock struts/shocks because aftermarket springs put more force onto your shocks, it's best to go aftermarket shocks also when changing springs.
7. If you want just purely the dropped look, the GF210 (I think, the ones by Tanabe) are looking VERY nice. If you're looking for a very subtle drop and eliminating the wheel gaps, STI JDM or Crucial Racing ...drops 1.25/1 inch and handles better and rides a little stiffer.
Also if you want some real nice drop and great handling, coilovers...cost about 1k for cheap ones and more for better.

Oh before the search police comes, it's a good idea to search on general topics, I know it's time consuming but there's a lot of information out there.
Also, I think some people around here would be nice enough to help install springs for food/drinks.

personally, i never felt like lowering my STi...
for the amount of GO, it was good. i never tracked the car.
plus i didnt wanna risk silly dealerships denying any warranty claims based on, "well you modified the suspension."
but then again, around 100 pounds of stereo equipment in the rear kinda does a pseudo lowering in the rear. maybe that's why the front end kinda looks higher... lol...

1. auto innovations in milpitas. look it up on google maps.
2. yes yes very good shop. they know subaru's
3. prodrive springs so i'd say 1.5" front and 0.5" rear.
4. i forget but it was under $200 and you get peace of mind because you know your car will come out in one piece.
5. less body roll / looks pimp
6. the lower you go, the harder it is to get up and down steep inclines, which is why i chose prodrive. minimal lowering, great performance, looks pimp.

1. In Jons garage
2. Plenty of good bay area shops. GST/Speedelement/AI/EIP/FIA should all be able to square you away. I think spring installs alone run 150-200
3. Espelir GT springs. A little more than an inch all the way around, very stiff
4. Springs were like $200 on nasioc
5. It was much better lowered. Improved handling, less body roll, improved looks without slamming the car
6. Too stiff for the softish stock struts. There were on there way out after 20k lowered, id prob get the JDM pinks, prodrives, or gf210s since they are slightly better matched with the stock strut valving

i think jdm pinks / crucial or tanabe GF210's are pretty good. if i had to get springs, id get crucial, progressive all the way around with a slightly more drop in the front than the pinks. I did not know spring isntalls cost 200 bucks, i'd definitely try to do it myself or get some help. i know a few people thats done it, and it doesn't look too hard. you can rent a spring compressor from places like kragens.

I am running Swift springs and bars on my 07STI. Got them installed at LIC. Highly recommend and they know what is the correct way to setup the car.

1. I lowered it in my driveway on a clear day
2. Most people have a driveway, so sure, I'd recommend it
3. Took an inch from the rear, and damn near 2 inches from the front
4. Megan Racing Coilovers (Track Spring Rates) $1100
5. I'm loving it even more. Ride is a little harsh, but I feel like a god in the corners.
6. I scrape in the front with some driveways. Just gotta learn what slopes will cause you to make contact and take it slow and from the side
7. You don't have to take your car to a shop to do it. Most people here (women folk included) can either do it for you (prepare to comp them beer and/or pizza) or guide you through it.
