DON'T DO IT! its not worth it. Keep that Excellent credit. A good friend of mine tried this and a few years later they garnished his wages and they take more than what his original monthly payments were. Are any of the loans federal student loans?

No cosigner they got me nice and early at 18 though. I didn't know they could garnish wages over student loans. That sucks

My great grandpa cosigned for my cousin 15 years ago and now cant afford to pay her loan and he has been getting a ton of bill collectors calling and emailing him like crazy. I believe at this point, he has had no choice but to pay some of it slowly.

I'd say pay the minimum and just get it over with.

Keep paying minimum until Obama hands you a free pass. Did you borrow 100k+ , end up partying too hard and finishing with a English major or something? I really don't understand this concept of getting a LOAN and not paying it off unless you got royally screwed somewhere along the line.

My fiance had well over 25k in loans and she's paying them off. Down to about 15k now and she doesn't make crazy money either. Just have to budget it in there.

Your credit rating will get destroyed once you default on your student loans. Don't do it. The best strategy is to renegotiate payment and interest terms. Or roll over student loan to a bank loan. No matter how small the payments (within reason), it will maintain your rating. Otherwise forget about buying a new car or house or new credit cards. My 2 cents.

Pay it back. You made an agreement. Stick to it. Get a job. Make smarter choices. Don't be a piece of ahit.

That was harsh. I apologize. Pay it back, keep your credit. Don't make other tax payers pay your debt.

You CAN NOT get rid of Student Loan debt, not even by filling for bankruptcy.

You either pay them off, or die. Not kidding. I used to work at in a Financial Aid office at a local Jr College.

Realistically we have been all paying everyone's debt... ive been working since 15. thats 15 years now, school debt it a ****en joke. everyone knows that. making a commitment to pay back 22k before even realizing what my major was is not only my issue, but the issue of millions of other people too. School debt has surpassed credit card debt in the states
