Question for Bay area SEMA attendees
Question for Bay area SEMA attendees
Looking at going this year and I know a number of you have gone in years past. Hotel prices are a little ridiculous during that week, so I'm wondering which hotels shaft people the least...
Granted, I expect the hotels to be expensive on this week because of SEMA, so don't think I'm looking for a free ride... Circus Circus looks like an OK deal but it is pretty ghetto.
To Zoeb and those who have gone...what hotels do you prefer?

I would suggest making sure you can get in before you make plans
they cracked down on people not in the industry attending. the last year I went we had to provide business cards, business license and they were even trying to demand our previous years tax return (umm no).

Last year i had to prove with a pay stub and w-2 that our new employee that we were taking actually worked for us. i had to fax over a copy of his CDL and W2...it was a lot smaller as far as the crowd went...but it was much nicer because vendors were much more willing to talk with us because they knew we were actuall industry instead of just random people.
as for hotels...MGM....NYNY...are my faves.

do what i do for the past 15 years or so, when i go to CES for my yearly trip to vegas: stay at a motel.
i dont know how much walking there is at SEMA but CES, it's walking from 8am til like 5pm for 2-3 days.
at the end of the day, i just wanna get some dinner, and then crash... then wake up and repeat.
of course this depends if you drive, like i do. does SEMA provide shuttle busses from the big major casinos?
for those who want to go to SEMA legit-ly, you can join a car club that is associated with SEMA. for example, when the 4wd club i belong to, used to be members of calif 4wd association, just that fact would allow us to sign up for SEMA...
