Question: Anyone got their tattoo done through a friend instead of at a shop???

Just wanted to know if there's anyone that got a tattoo done up through their friend, and not going to a tattoo shop. If so, is that person's work good? The reason I ask is so maybe I can go get it through your friend instead of paying 500 bucks to get my tattoo covered up. I'm trying to get my left arm covered up with another Koi, so I'll need someone that has experience with Oriental-style. So let me know

If you want something good pay for it. That or be related to someone who does it professionaly (Ive never paid for work, but my brother loves me).

The guys over at Braveheart Tattoo in SJ do some really good Japanese art.

whatever you do make sure you know the work they do and have done. If not it will cost ya double to get it done right. So might as well do it right the first time.

I got a tattoo on my back from my buddy. My first. In his kitchen. I love it. It's not perfect but I love it. He's much better now.

my upper arm was done in-house by my wife's brother. He rips.

So it's really about this... is he truly a professional tattoo artist. Is his stuff clean and new?

Whether it's at home or in a shop a good tattoo artist is a good tattoo artist and a crappy one is crappy.
