The previous owner had this bird dirt on my car, on top of the roof. It seemed like it sat for a very long time and got into the clear coat I think. I have no idea how to remove it. I've tried rubbing compound, but to no avail. Here's a shot:

Next: my roof vane. I got this from a fellow I-club. It was salvaged from a wrecked 06-07 sti. I was wondering if it's possible to still use this spoiler. The left side of the bracket seems to be sheared off a bit. And the right side of the spoiler is scuffed up. What do you guys think?

The roof vane should be fine as long as you have the end caps. I think they may not be as snug so water may be able to get in though. But it will look like normal.
As for the bird ****, that stuff is acidic and when it's left for a while it will eat in the clear coat. I'd say talk to one of the guys on here that specialize in details.

If the bird dropping has not eaten too far into the clear coat layer, what you can do is wet sand the spot and then cut it with a rotary with wool pad to restore the finish. Take extra extra extra and EXTRA precaution when doing this and its highly recommended to use a paint depth gauge to see how much remaining paint you are working with...
